problem. hope you can help me guys, ive been trying to do EVERYTHING a girl can do to a computer without throwing it off the roof of my house. so. ive just bought belkin wireless adapter (F5D7050B) and installed it - it was working for a bit, but then stopped. ive tried uninstalling it and it just wouldnt do it. afterwards, ive decided to re-install windows (xp professional). finally, ive managed to get rid of the software BUT it still wont work. ive got an ibm thinkpad t23. ive called belkin support people to find out its not their problem. ive called ibm to find out their advice is ‘billable’. i really need my net to start working and was wondering if anyone knows how to sort it out:( much appreciated. alex.
Answer:
The Belkin WIFI usually sets up fairly easily. Don’t use the Microsoft WIFI wizard; it is not compatible with the Belkin software. Can you get the Belkin software to run? Most of the plug-in WIFI adapters use a similar program to setup the adapter. There are two basic parts to this setup The first part is the connection to the router. In the Wireless Monitor window click on the MORE button at the bottom right. In the top portion the first line shows the network name it is attempting to connect to. Dose it show your network name? Are the two red stripes better then half? In the bottom half of the window, dose your IP address start with 192.168.1.___ ? Part two deals with the connection from the router to the internet. What type of firewall are you using? Waiting Ron
