I want to know what the Bible really says about homosexuality. The word is not used in the bible that I can find. I found the word effeminate in there. When I looked up the Greek word, it said male prostitute and also talked about pedafilia. So how does this word get translated to mean non-physical love between two people of the same gender? Why is love wrong? Also, it is my understanding that any laws that condemned things in the Old Testament no longer apply to a Christian. Unless I choose to become a Jew, why would homosexuality be wrong for a Christian based on what is said in the Old Testament? So far, I can not find why some Christians say homosexuality is wrong. If I love someone, why does it matter if they are a male or female? Isn’t the only rule for a Christian, love? If you are Christian and familiar with the Bible, I would like to have verses and where they are found, please. My own study is not leading me to believe the Bible says homosexuality for a Christian is wrong. Thank you for helping me.

Well so far you have been doing well. If you look up in the New Testament specifically in the words of Jesus there is nothing ever said about homosexuality. So you are good in that regard. Paul on the other hand makes a few unpleasant hints about it in Romans 1 maybe somewhere around verse twenty but hey look for it and you will most likely find it. But yeah that is part of the issue nothing that Jesus said about how to live condemed gays so really all the stuff from the church could really be wrong. It seems like more of a focus has been placed on that to distract people from the fact that some of the many other basics teachings of Jesus have been ignored. Regarding the Old Testament my grounding in that is much more loose. But alot of those rules still apply in my opinion. But all this should be guided by "Love thy neighbour as thy self" and all that. So as a result the Ten Commandments seem like a good thing to follow to keep the loving your neighbour in check. But Paul was sent a message from God, in Acts? (I think) that it is okay to eat non kosher and unclean foods to tell him that he should start spreading the gospel to the gentiles. So maybe that would affect it but I don't really know.

There is nothing wrong with loving someone. Love whomever you choose, man or woman. That is your right as a human being on this planet. To be treated with the same respect and dignity as every other human. Period. Christians teaching about the love of humanity and to live an let live like Jesus preached, died when he did. There is nothing in Christianity today, that is not about condemnation and judgment if you don't behave, think or feel the way they do. There are varying degrees of the judgment but there is judgment there none the less. If Jesus were here today, the last thing he would be is a Christian.

Yes, you can find all this going on today, documentaries and video footage of girls with bashed in heads. Praise Jesus. Woot to fundamentalism. By the way, I highly doubt Jesus had as his second highest priority an overt concern of men with other men. Its just better to follow the direct words of Jesus if you want to be a real christian. I.e. everything else anyone claimed to write "under the influence of Jesus", forget it. Anonymous didn't ask if jesus was a jew. He asked if there was any specific bible references to homosexuality. Sodom and Gomorrah. Homosexuality is viewed as a curse, as a disease because it goes against God's "natural law." Whatever. There is no commandment that says "Thou shalt not be homosexual." The only thing that Jesus repeatedly taught was that we should love each other. Forgive, love, accept, DO NOT JUDGE. Homosexuality is a choice that a person makes. Every choice has consequences. Good and bad. People make choices every day. Everyone has to live with their consequences, and every one wants to justify the decisions they make. You are an individual. The choices that you make in your life are yours to make. It is not my place to tell you if you are right or wrong. It's not my place to judge you. It is my place to stand by and support the people I love, as long as they aren't breaking the commandments that I live by.
