I have a problem with wifi internet connections on my laptop.

Ask:
I receive a signal and reading that the wireless connection is active, but when I click onto explorer I get an error page saying that the browser could not locate whatever site I want to go to.
How do I need to configure my laptop so I can take it into wifi areas and actually get onto the internet? many thanks.

Answer:
have you gone to Internet Options Connections LAN Settings and then unticked : Use a proxy server?
Answer:
What kind of wireless adapter are you using?
Answer:
My laptop has a Broadcom 802.11g network adapter #3.
Answer:
I still don’t quite have enough information to make a good diagnosis. What happens when you enter the router address? Do you get the router main page? How do you know that the connection is active? How did you setup your wireless adapter in the beginning? If you are connected the problem may be with your firewall. You can try shutting down your firewall to see if that’s the problem. If the broadband adapter is internal you should be able to diagnose your problem with the Wireless wizard. Go to the control panel to find it. If the adapter is external you should have software to run that shows your status.
