Get your tail down to the Department of Employment Security immediately. Get your paperwork filled out so you can start collecting, and at the same time seek their help in finding a new job. I'm not sure how little your girls are, but in most states I believe it's illegal for utility companies to shut off your power if your household includes small children, elderly people, or people with health problems. WIC can probably help you with some food subsidies, and many churches have food pantries that you can draw on. Also, as Rebellionaire25 said, there are many nonprofits willing to help. You can probably get help locating these resources through the Department of Social Services. The most important thing to do, though, is to make it a top priority to get back on your own feet so that you don't get pulled into a cycle of helplessness and dependency over the long term.
