I was in gym class about 4 years ago and we were running a shock put, a slower kid, about 2 times my mass hit my shoulder and it hurt for a while afterwards. I gave it a break, relaxed, it would hurt again later, then stop, now it’s back in bad pain for over a week since I harmed it during a swimming practice. It’s the shoulder mostly to lift it up into the air and actions of that sort, is there any possibilty I could find some home remedies to get rid of this? I’ve tried very hard, and it’s just gotten to the point I”m worried about losing my physical fitness because my arms will wind up hurting for a long time.

Mine was from doing breast stroke with swimming, I have a weird joint ability of my arms that they can go the entire way around my body like a jump rope. When I didn't warm up, the joint locked, it caused pain from the area that got hit perviously that year. God knows why, it just hurt like heck and back. if you do, they are not kidding when they tell you to drink lots of water the day after, i didnt, and i could barely move for 2 days.....trust me just drink the water Are you referring to the chamomile? Hmmmmm, I guess I'll follow that advice plentifully then! I drink so much water already, some more couldn't hurt. :P lol

I have a weird joint ability of my arms that they can go the entire way around my body like a jump rope. That its really strange...! no wonder you hurt your shoulder!!! Have you tried yoga btw?

Yes! :D I do yoga and ballet quite frequently, I love the warm ups and work outs for it as well, it's completely calming and relaxing. :) Flushing toxins I've heard of, I'm in a process of it with an all fruit-juice and water diet for a day or two, then I eat regularly, take a day or two the next week and do the same. It makes you have to go to the restroom a lot because much is being flushed out of your system, but it completely helps the body function. I literally lost a pound or two of excess water weight from it, it's very advantageous! :)

There are several massage modalities that would be helpful to you. You can try neuromuscular therapy, trigger point therapy, the aforementioned sports massage, a nice deep tissue massage. Heck even plain ol swedish massage cant hurt. Massage is fantastic for injuries like that (if its muscular). There are several nice poses in yoga that can help to open up the shoulder girdle too! Yogajournal.com has a great pose finder and you can search it by anatomical focus. Just be sure to go slow :)

prettypouf - Actually, i have the best advice for you: What you have sounds a lot like a rotator cuff injury. They take a long time to heal and they're a real nuisance. I don't usually hear about people getting them by being hit like you were, but all of your other descriptions fit the bill perfectly. What you need to do to fix this is as follows: Yes, make sure you give your shoulder time to heal. And as soon as you can, start doing rotator cuff exercises. Look them up in google. I have had to do these, as have several of my more athletic friends. And make sure you use very light weights. A physical therapist would give you an elastic band. The guys I know who do this, who tend to be pretty strong, use the lowest weights on the pully systems in the gym (5 pounds or 2.5 pounds) to start. If you're in good shape, and especially if you swim, you might try the same. Just keep in mind that these muscles are very weak. That's why you're getting these injuries. I can almost gaurantee it. You might be more prone to this b/c of your special joints, but the injuries sound like the same rotator cuff problems everyone else gets.
Answer:
I want to be sure I'm clear. If you feel any pain while doing to exercises, stop doing them or lower the weight. Persisting through the pain is an absolute disaster with this kind of injury. You can easily take yourself out of commission for six months. But if you do these exercises properly, you will fix your problem.

I'll look these work outs up. I have been searching a lot for whatever injury this might be, and I totally can correspond with what a rotar cuff injury sounds like now. I thank you for your concern and help, it's a godsend and I'm glad you could help. :) I have a set of weights that would meet requirements, and I'll look into yoga even more and do the exercises through google. It does take a long time to heal, but it's now good knowing that I can strengthen these muscles and make them better-fit and organized. :) Thank you so much!

You can easily take yourself out of commission for six months. But if you do these exercises properly, you will fix your problem. I did that all too often and learned my lesson. I would lift weights and tell myself "lift through the pain." Yea, that works until afterwards when I'm trying to lay down, it would kill me. I'm going to fix it this time, and I might just print out your advice so I remember to take it easy on myself. :P It's so good to have someone who knows the pain of these injuries! :) Thank you!

You're welcome! I'm glad I know something useful.
