I work like, 8-9 hours shifts at McDonald’s almost every day, and after awhile my legs, feet, and especially BACK just howl in pain. Any way I can help avoid that while I’m working (I’m basically just standing at the cash 80% of the time), and help it when I get home?
Answer:
i am really heavy. while i work i am okay except for my feet and back sometimes . although whenever i try to get out of my car when i get home, i can barely move! So i know where you are coming from

Answer:
1. Get yourself the most comfortable pair of shoes you can find (buy them a half or full size too big and put in them the most cushy shoe insert you can find) Your feet can really affect your back 2. Get your boss to order some "anti fatigue" mats for you to stand on when working. If they balk, remind them how much cheaper those mats are than lost time injuries or workmans comps claims. BE CAREFUL how you word that to the boss 3. Be aware of how you are working. twisting your body while reaching or lifting is very bad. Try to turn your whole body to face your customer when handing change etc. Watch your posture. Do a googgle on "ergonomics" It will be pretty enlightening 4. If you are overweight, this is terrible on your back 5. My husband has back problems and the best relief is to take ibuprofil/advil. Take it regularly. It is an anti-inflammitory and will really help, but it does take a few days to kick in fully. Hubby SWEARS by this and it really does work. 6. Stretches before hand are great. AND whenever you can do it during your shift, or on break.
