can help, i have recently rescued a GSD and have training him myself, but am having issues with getting him to heal and not to pull and bark at other dogs as well as a few other minor problems other than these few things i know i have a wonderful dog.

Minor indescrepancies with our canine friends are caused by one of two things. Not enough love and attention (don't think we have a problem there), or bad habits caused by the negligence of the prior caretaker (I think we've found the one). Bad habits are extremely hard to train out, but time and effort will do your dog good. He'll love you if you give him a simple command and reward him after he makes a good attempt at doing what you say. If your dog doesn't have a clue, he'll give you that cute-as-heck blank dog stare. If he does that, then do your best to show him what you mean, then give the order. After a few good efforts (mostly on your part) he'll start to catch on.

Thanks the previous owners never walked him and let him bark at other dogs and do what he wanted to be fair which is why they realized he was too much for them.He is 14 months old and over the last 3 months he has been here he has come a long way and was thinking of getting help proffesionally with the barking and lunging at other dogs but have been pushing myself to crack as much of it on my own, as he does not bark in the garden anymore and is well behaved at home.

That is a great improvement for him. You'd do well to acknowledge that everyday. All of this training would have suited him better if he were younger so keep in mind that it will be a little more challenging due mostly to age. I suggest taking him to a wide open area park, like a state park every week or so to get acclamated to taking your commands in public. He'll get a lot less dog on dog interaction that way, which is good now. Later it will make it easier to move up to the neighborhood walks, and eventually, the dog park.

i was taking him to a hugh feld nearby where at the right times there can be up to ten dogs, off the lead he is very bouncy and boistrous and plays nicely if the dogs ok with him being so bouncy but a couple of incidences have took me away where he has got too dominant to smaller dogs and upset the owners so now its a feild near the house which is smaller but paople do walk past with dogs alot and so far everything has been ok, it's mostly on the lead i have problems with as his so strong when he sees snother dog.And the bark scares people to walk another way.
