Baby swans...

NO.1. Ask :
Baby swans...
I am the proud co-carer of 4 baby swans and they are sooooo gorgeous. Sadly the Dad died 2 weeks ago in a tragic accident caused by a neglectful human so the Mum is looking after them on her own (and a random duck seems to tag along with her) and bless she isnt the best so we (myself and a few others on the canal where I live) have taken on the role as the main food provider, well bread anyway!

They are so sweet, the Mum was actually taking bread from my hand this morning. They are about 4 weeks old now and wobble like weebles when they stand up cos their feet are too big for them. I just thought I'd share cos they are the sweetest things :D
Answer:
They sound so cute. Any pics?
Answer:
Will take some tonight and try and put them on here, I've got some on my phone but they are a bit blurry and have no idea how to get them from my phone and onto here! x
Answer:
Just a word of warning - bread is not good for ducks or swans - it causes more damage than good. It's really best to let them find food naturally by themselves.

:thanks:

I did speak to the local swan rescue centre as we were worried about the Mum abandoning the babies and also asked about feeding them cos they were so tiny at the time and the mum was leaving them on their own a lot of the time. They did say it was ok to feed them bread (as long as the bread isn't mouldy) also lettuce and grains and it wouldn't them any harm, the rspb also says this.

    Spending Diary for Sticky!
I really like the Spending Diary thread..as the changing room may soon be no more I think it should be a sticky..what do you think???
    Answer:
    yeah, definatly.
i mentioned to piglet last week that i should be a sticky actually......
    Answer:
I'd think it would be better to leave it how it is and start a new thread each month  Then you could do a monthly round up of how much you've spent/saved...
ETA: That way people that only want to join in for the month could do more easily too!
    Answer:

I bought some pitta breads yesterday to have with my soup at work. The best before date is 11th July and I opened them yesterday afternoon. I've just noticed that the remaining pitta breads are spotted with mould. They were only 30p or something but it seems a bit out of order for them to be spoiled after one day! Should I bother taking them back?

Where did you get them? If they are a supermarket own brand then I would write to the supermarket in question and send the pittas or a picture of them. Hopefully they will send you some money off vouchers. People on the moneysavingexpert forums do this all the time!
    Answer:
I got them from Aldi! (I am such a scav!). I haven't got the reciept or anything so it probably would be a bit of hassle and theres no customer services bit so I'd have to ask one the sales assistants in front of everyone, go bright red and embarrassed!
    Answer:
Man I'd take them back. I'd have been sooo annoyed if my meal was spoiled
I bought one of those yummy Onken mousses a while back it was out of date- I took it back got a free mousse.

Also phoned Mars about the nasty white scum on my MMs once again got sent lots of lovely vouchers........by that time I realised I was going mental in London moved back to Wales :hippy:

  • How do you ...

    NO.4. ask :
    How do you ...
get fuschia nail polish off of white jeans?!!
    Answer:
Will it pick off? I imagine if you put nail varnish remover near it it will spread....
    Answer:
There's one of those stain devil sticks that's good for getting nail varnish off. The pink may stain though. I spilt bright pink dries-in-60-seconds nail varnish on my mum's carpet once. It never really came out, even after professional cleaning. :cmdunno:
    Answer:
Oh dear - a friend's ****ed up her jeans and she put nail polish remover on which made it worse.
    Answer:
soaking in salt water gets blood out?
wonder if it'd work on nail polish?

    Answer:
