What the HELL does one wear to a wedding reception at Claridges??

NO.1. Ask :
What the HELL does one wear to a wedding reception at Claridges??
Help! I have a wedding reception to go to at Claridges at the end of April and I don't have an outfit. Worse, I'm a plus one to a newly acquired MrT and this is a huge family wedding thing. I have a budget of £200 for the lot I think. Can anyone recommend any slightly quirky places I might find a dress? I'd like to avoid typical high street as I'd rather not turn up to find I match with half the guests.
Thank-you.
Answer:
I don't think you should worry any more than necessary that it's Claridges. What about taking advantage of the 20% off code "one" for You might find something a bit different on there. Otherwise I'd try Start in Shoreditch, Diverse in Upper Street, Islington and other little boutiques. I've only said these as I think you are based in London trickster?
Good luck! x
Answer:
Yes I am. Thanks GIC. I looked on MyWardrobe but didn't see anything I loved. It's just a pretty super-posh thing and I've never done that.
Answer:
I've just gone through my faves and found a few to look at, to get some ideas/inspiration...

I have bought this cream wrap dress, it has black flowers on it and a black sash, it's sort of Oriental looking, knee length and flared sleevs to the elbow.

I am going to wear it to a Wedding, do you think black peeptoes are ok to wear? Or is this too black for a Wedding? Also would a black bag be too much?

I'm struggling on the jewellery front, gold colour doesnt suit my skin colour so it's either silver, pearl or black, what do you think would look best? I'm really stuck.

Would you wear studs and change to danglie sin teh evening? I don't think I'll wear much of a showy necklace as the neckline is quite busy. Would silver be ok? Or should I opt for little pearl or black danglies- but then is that too much black?

    Arrrgh, help lol!
    Answer:

    Do you have a pic?
I'd wear black shoes - if the main colour is cream then it won't look too black. Or how about putting pewter or silver shoes and accessories?
    The dress sounds gorgeous btw!
    Answer:
I think pearl jewellery and black shoes would be nice. Some smallish dangly earrings would look good for day and night. x
    Answer:
    Hi

Black shoes will be perfect with your dress. As will a black bag. It's difficult to say without seeing it but I think silver jewellery will work well.

If you use black it could get too OTT or contrived looking IYSWIM? So I'd opt for something very simple in silver - maybe just nice earrings and a bracelet or watch if a necklace doesnt work. I wouldnt be changing jewellery at all, start out with what you intend to wear all night! I think something more than a stud would be nice. :)
    Answer:
If you would like to go for something really different, why not try a necklace and stud earring out of semi-precious stones, like turqoise or amethysts?
You could match your shoes to that, so have a (small) turqoise necklace and earrings, and turqoise coloured peeptoes or so?
