High Waist Jeans
I want some high waist jeans but being of a long body (as well as leg) I'm having a hell of a job finding any. The Topshop Ks are at least 3" below my waist and give me a deeply unattractive camel toe  so they are out. There are some what look to be quite reasonable ones on ASOS but I am worried they will also be substantially below my waist too - they will probably be just about long enough in the leg. Does anyone one have the ASOS jeans or know of any other brand that come up very high? I love these 18th Amendment ones but can't find them in my size (32).
I'm after wide 70s flares rather than skinnies.
Answer:
There's the Acne Tubes too Pansymouse. They come up pretty high. This is the Radisson but there are lots of different washes.
Answer:
I haven't tried those ASOS ones but I did try the skinny high-waisted ones in a very dark denim and they came up very high, in fact they hit my bra ! I'm not sure if you would be happy with skinny ones ? I suspect not, going on our flares obsession discussion at the last Meet.:D
1980s Fashion
NO.2. ask :
1980s Fashion
This idea is unashamedly pinched from a wedding baggers 1980s themed wedding buffet. I think it's a great idea and I've decided as it's my 30th birthday later this year I want to have a 1980s themed party.
Ideas so far include 80s party food, ra ra skirts, leg warmers, bat wing tops and a disco Dave.
Any ideas for this party would be greatly appreciated, especially in terms of 1980s fashion, what would you wear to this party?!
Answer:
I'd definitely go as 80's Madonna - Ra-ra skirt over short leggings, some kinda lacey top or big baggy t-shirt cut off one shoulder, peep toes heels, hair pulled up all messy, loads of beads, fingerless gloves and an eyeliner mole on face!
Perfect!! :D
Answer:
lots and lots of shoulder pads! lol, although do people even sell them any more? stick on bras might work....LOL

Answer:
Think David Hasslehoff, Fame, Footloose, Grange Hill, Duran Duran, Wham, legwarmers, hair in side pony tails, plastic jewellery, string vests, ra ra skirts, neon, pop socks, pointy shoes, leg warmers, logo longline t'shirts, ripped jeans, biker jackets, acid faces, this might give you more inspiration -
Have fun! x
Answer:
Thanks for the ideas, I definately like the Madonna idea. Can you still buy hair crimpers?!
Turban - spotted !!!
NO.3. ask :
Turban - spotted !!!
I actually spotted someone wearing a turban last night !!! The rest of her outfit was very funky - silver peep toe chunky wedges (with a very YSL look to them), silver tote, skirt, vest and shirt in muted shades of taupe/oyster/black silk and a very eye-catching long necklace of hexagonal mirrors about the size a jaffa cake.......topped off with a black turban.
It just didn't work. she had wispy bits of hair poking out of it (as opposed to going for the full-on 'washed my hair' look) and when I first saw her head only (in a lift) I thought she was a bag lady or street-freak (or the more politically correct term 'local colour').
then about 5 minutes later I saw someone wearing the TS maxi-dress that I hmmed and haahed over for a few weeks and decided against (the mauve/purple/taupe large check one IYKWIM) over a black long sleeve t with converses (EXACTLY how I inted to wear my maxi-dresses) and she looked fantastic. Unfortunately its no longer on-line (first thing I checked when I got home:o )......so I'm going to trawl TS this weekend and see if there is still one lurking about.
No real point to this thread - just thought I'd share my fashion-spotting tube trip home last night !:D
Answer:
 That's so wrong :head: I wonder if it's a possibility she's having Chemo?
When I was at london college of fashion, there were all sights there including one particularly effeminate guy who was wearing wooden shoes! I don't mean wedges or anything but actual blocks of wood strapped to his feet with brown leather straps and he also had what looked like a hamster on his head on a cap that was flattened :yuck:

Does anyone remember a kid's tv show from the 80's called Good Health? We used to watch it at school. They made a similar sort of shoe on that called Blockaboots!! :disguise:
Turban's are so wrong, they remind me of swimming caps. :o
Answer:
I wondered that too Weenie (and felt very bad which is why I didn't post this last night) but having thought about it some more I don't think so. It was like she had a razor cut hoxton pob (IYKWIM ???) with hair sticking out the entire way around and then had plonked this turban on top. it wasn't tight to her head or anything......in fact it looked a little bit like a cardinal/pontiff hat it sat so high above her head. She definitely had an eccentric look to her otherwise....all I caught initially was a headshot and she had a strange look in her eyes that I instantly recognised as 'eccentric, quite possibly talks to herself and probably has a transistor radio that she carries around listening to at full volume'.
Answer:
I am just not sure *anyone* can wear a turban (for fashion, not religion) and be taken seriously!
 a transistor radio
eta: I was TS yesterday and there's a huge rail of maxi-dresses but none as you describe (or none that i could see anyone) :(
Havaianas woe
NO.4. ask :
Havaianas woe
I purchased my first pair of Hav tops at the weekend (brown metallic). In the shop and wandering round at home they did seem comfy, if a little loose. When I walked out the door this morning, they were falling off my feet, the rubber strap was that loose.
I bought a brazilian size 39/40 as I'm a size 6 and the brazilian 37/38 was too small in the shop.
Now I have really wide feet, the sort that can't really fit into pointy shoes and I often struggle to find shoes wide enough.
How do people keep Havs on their feet or have I just got a duff pair with about 2cm more rubber strap than I should have???
I'm tempted to buy a pair of Flash Havaianas - they seem to have a strap that keeps your foot in place more. Does anyone have a pair? Does anyone have the same trouble as me???
Flash Havs:
Answer:
I'm a UK size 6 and I wear Brazilian size 37/38 in Havs (UK size 5-6, I think) I tried the next size up, but they were too big for me.
Answer:
Unfortunately my foot was practically hanging off the back of the size 37/38s... Maybe I'm between sizes.
Answer:
Do you wear flip flops much generally?
If not it could be that you need to get used to the 'feel' of them.
If you're UK 6 I think the size you picked sounds right, esp as you tried on the smaller ones and they didn't fit.
Answer:

I'm exactly the same as you. I'm normally a 6 but wear 37/38 in Havs and they fit perfectly.
Should I go in to London to get this?
NO.5. ask :
Should I go in to London to get this?
I am considering it - I saw it yesterday and can't stop thinking about it.
What do you think of it? I LOVE the deep aubergine colour, the last time I saw a purple leather bag in TS that I loved, I never saw it again. The size is good, the shape's quite non-girly for me but it looked really good on. Ideally I'd like it as a birthday present (July, but I never have any ideas of what I'd like for my birthday) but really hate asking for things...
But I'm also contemplating this, for £26 on ebay, not 100% sold on the studs or the gold hardware but the shape's a lot more me:
Answer:
I much prefer the TS one, deep aubergine is such a yummy colour :D I think that after all you've been through lately you deserve a treat. Go and get it :car:
Answer:
I prefer the TS one, its gorgeous and worth the trip!!
Answer:
I love that Topshop bag, I nearly bought one for myself!:D
It's definitely worth going into London to look at it again, if you still aren't sure I saw some Aubergine leather bags in Gap (Oxford circus) and they're having a sale now.
Back to the Topshop bag, I think it's nice, simple and unfussy so it could adapt to a lot of outfits. And the aubergine colour makes a nice change from all the brown/tan/black bags everywhere. Aubergine is also a fairly neutral colour (imo) so I think you should go for it!!:)
Answer:
I love the Topshop one. I'm a big fan of their leather bags and its a lovely colour and good, practical size.
I don't really like the Ebay one at all - its the studs.
