Next Orders-help!

NO.1. Ask :
Next Orders-help!
I need some basics, and Next are always good for them, so i've added a few things to my basket.

But, I'm trying to order...and it's charging me for a directory and making me an account holder! (which i don't want, i just want to pay with my debit card without having all of these obligations)

Can you pay using debit cards, i can't seem to find how to do this.:boohoo:

Better still, can you order over the phone, as this website is driving me mad!

If anyone can help, i will be v grateful, thank you!
Answer:
I normally order in store to avoid paying silly P+P costs, and to avoid the cost of the Directory.
Answer:
How do you do that, is it like ordering something to pick up at the local store?
Answer:
You have to have an account to order with them I think but you get a 14 day trial period before they charge you for anything you buy so it's worth it IMO :) The only obligation is you pay £3.50 for a directory twice a year (spring/summer autumn/winter) but I don't think there's anything else :uzzle: Oh there's always a free pp code flying around so don't worry about that cost of that ;)
ETA: My Mum has ordered things instore before but not over the phone, she's actually gone to the store picked something out of the catalogue to be transferred to our local store. I think you have to have an account to have your order delivered to a store if you order over the phone.
Answer:
Thanks
I'm now going shopping tomorrow with a friend, so I should be able to get the things I want instore!

But thanks, i'll bear in mind what you have said about the account as the offers seem quite good, and my local next in town is rubbish, the one i'm going to tomorrow is good but not that near when i need stuff.

Also, Next have some lovely shoes atm, nicer than a lot of other stores.:)

Edit; phoned up the local store (i am desperate for the stuff!) and they didn't have it, so i ordered over the phone and she was v helpful. At least it means i can wander round the shops tomorrow without having to hunt for it! Thanks for the info Lisa!

Who do you think should win? I love the quirkiness of Kate Moss etc, but think someone classic like SJP should win!
    Answer:
I think Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale style or the Beckhams.
    Answer:
I quite like how Kylie Minogue and her then boy friend Olivier Martinez dressed, very Parisian chic...in fact i think her style is lovely.
    Answer:
I really like Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. She always has agreat style
    Answer:
I voted Gwen Gavin, although SJP has great style Matthew Broderick doesnt.

this is just a whinge. i love bandeau tops, i think they look good on me. but i cant wear them - my strapless bras (which are all the right size, i have all my bras fitted) fall down after a while, damn my boobs, and i just find it annoying and stuff!! aaaarrrggghhh!
    Answer:
I love and hate them too. I hate them because I am a 32A and they end up slinking down and cutting my tiny boobs in half making them look half the size they were.
I love them because they look really nice when you first put them on and "position" them.
    xxx
    Answer:
I brought myself two strapless/bandeau style tops but with bra's hidden in them if that makes any sense? only problem is, on a tight budget I could only find plain ones with the hidden support (and i mean something that actually holds boobs up and not flattens them like some seem to do lol).
Bra's annoy me! esp strapless ones!

I think American Apparel have ones with built in bras, might be worth a look.

  • Default Notice - Advice please

    NO.4. ask :
    Default Notice - Advice please
I need some help. I have a default notice on my credit report.
A while ago I had an Egg card and it had a small balance on it £400 something like that and I didnt use it anymore but I couldn't really pay it off so I was paying the minimum amount every month. Somewhere along the line the minimum went up but I didnt know until I received a letter saying that I hadn't been making the minimum payments and that they were cancelling the account I was mortified and terrified as nothing like this had ever happened before and immediately asked my Mum to borrow the cash and paid the full balance to them. Now there is a default notice on my credit report.
I have tried to investigate what the default notice means in terms of my credit future. I didnt have a very good credit rating before..not exactly sure why I haven't borrowed a lot over the years and stupidly as a student I'd missed a few payments on things like you do which I think brought it down..I recently wanted to move my current account and found I couldn't..also the deal on our credit card came to an end and I wanted to move it to another 0% card and found I couldn't..I assume this is because of the default notice.
I can't find much info on the net at all about default notices...other than it stays on your report for six years. In the grand scheme of things this doesnt matter too much as I don't intend to EVER have credit cards or loans or anything ever again. However the one thing I am concerned about is is that I do want to buy my own home. I rang a Debt Helpline who said I would still be able to get a mortgage but it may affect the amount I could borrow but they couldn't really be more specific.
I will be wanting a mortgage before six years is up and I was wondering if the default notice is really going to ruin my chances and if it would make more sense for mr pink (we're not financially associated in any way - we have no joint lending) to apply for a mortgage in his name only?? however I'm the main salary earner?
I would appreciate if anyone could answer my questions as I'm drawing a bit of a blank searching on the net..
    Thanks
    Answer:
    b*stards,
Vodafone did something very very similar to me. I only found out last week when I couldn't swap to any more 0% credit cards and checked my credit rating - it's been on there for over a year! It is one red mark in a sea of green  not one late payment I have ever made, i tell you I'm bloody LIVID :fume:
I spoke to Experian who told me that they were wrong to do so and that I should call them and ask them nicely to correct it. Feck that. I took option two which is lodging a complaint with the credit reference agency it can take months but as they're in the wrong they told me it will be withdrawn eventually.
You need to get your report and then speak to them about it and don't worry if it's harsh of them to give you a default *(and its sounds like it is if you don't owe money) it can be corrected.
    Good luck :fingers:
    Answer:
First things first, get a copy of your credit report from Experian (or some such) if you haven't already - not very expensive, and will show you
exactly what the problem is. It is sometimes possible to appeal against ratings.
Next, I would discuss the repercussions of this with your potential mortgage lender. There is no straight answer, other than what you've already received - you'll still be able to get a mortgage but the amount you can borrow may be affected.
It's impossible to say by how you'll be affected, not least because banks vary somewhat in how they assess these things, but if you can show that you have a good history otherwise (i.e. that you regularly pay off overdrafts, loans etc) then you have a reasonable case for demonstrating that this was a one-off. The longer the period between the service of the default notice and your application for a mortgage the better as well, although that's only if you've had a good history in between times, obviously. Plus if you get a mortgage from a bank or building society with which you already have a good relationship, you might find them more willing to negotiate.
Banks and building societies are very eager to lend money these days so I wouldn't panic too much (yet).

This is really not the case at all at the moment - Bad debt is on the up and is one of the biggest problems facing lenders. It is more difficult to get credit at the moment than it has been for a long time!
What you need to do QOP is to contact Egg to see where you stand.
Companies only send factual info to credit card companies (in that at the time they sent the info the account was in arrears. This is regardless of whose fault it was - could be theirs or yours) so most times they will refuse to remove it unless it is their error.
If it is their error I imagine that they will remove it without a quibble and then it will show as removed on your file
If it is your error, then they wont remove it - I gather from what you have said that this is the case? However, even when a default is registered the info re the default is still sent to the credit reference agency every month, so when you paid it off the following month Egg would have informed the credit reference agency that it was cleared and the default would now show as satisfied.
I think the other thing that you can do is add a note to the notice of default so when any company does a search on you when you apply for credit then they will see the notice of dissociation (I think this is what its called, but not sure!) This would mean that whenever you applied for anything going forward it would probably refer rather than straight accept, so I would be wary of applying for anything at a till in that case to save any blushes!
Im not sure what effect it will have on you getting a mortgage, but I would just be honest with the mortgage advisor when you see one - the default is a small amount and satisfied so you may be able to get it overlooked.
    Hope this helps a bit!!

Yes, I suppose I should have said that it does depend on circumstances rather. I've been quite shocked by the amount (usually irresponsibly high) that lenders have been prepared to offer friends/family/me.
QOP, you can also do things to improve your credit rating, but those ironically mostly require you to take out a new card and use (and pay it off) regularly. Other basic things like being on the electoral roll help also. You might have more luck if you can get a family member with a good credit history to co-sign for a card with a small limit; you can then use that to help re-establish your own credit. This is theoretically possible (or apparently so according to the very exciting book on scorecard development I've just been reading) but I don't know how easy this is to do in practise.
Notices of Disassociation are (I think) usually only used for situations where you wish to be disassociated from someone else (basically it states that you don't have a financial relationship with a particular person). I think the thing Jenny refers to is a Notice of Correction - you'd use that where there is something on your report that you agree is correct but that you think unfairly affects your ability to borrow due to extenuating circumstances (things like illness or job loss). Given that it was your mistake originally, I'm not sure how successful it would be.

    Closets/Dressing Rooms
(Not sure if this should go in here or the Changing Room so sorry if in the wrong place.)
I'll soon have a room that I can use for my clothes (with a small area b/f's stuff!) which is very exciting but the more I think about it the more I don't know what to do with the room!
I want to make the best use of the space so am thinking of floor to ceiling fitted wardrobes with lots of rails, shelves etc but am not sure what to do with shoes (rack, shelf in boxes etc) or bags. I'm also a bit concerned that the middle of the room will be a bit wasted if everything else is around the edge.
Does anyone have a dressing room/closet? If so, how do you organise it? Where did you get the furniture?
Come on laddies of the bag - give me some inspiration!
    Answer:
    Get thyself to Ikea promptly!!!
my old bathroom (2 by 2 meters) became redunded last year when we got a new bathroom. I have bought the Ikea pax cupboards without doors (they do high ones), so I now the most lovely walk-in closet. You can buy all kind a drawers, organizers, shelfs etc. I have one less deep cupboard (30 cm deep instead of the unsual 60 cm) with only slanted shoeracks from top till bottom.
The have a very easy planner on their website that you can use to try out different lay-outs.
By the way: I am not spamming Ikea, I promise
When I get home I can see if I can take some pictures and post for you so you can see if you like the idea.
    Answer:
Seconded Nijntje. I had the same in my old dressing room / closet room - two walls of ikea pax system (3 of the larger frames on each wall). They're huge - I had to stand on a chair to get the stuff at the top and I'm 5ft 10. Shoes I had organised in boxes (also ikea) with polaroids on the front of them, the boxes were on shelves which were at the very top of the wardrobes all the way around. As for the rest of the room I had a dressing table and mirror on one wall and a full lenth mirror on the other. My room was square in shape so it worked well. Remember, you'll need room to manoever when you're trying on new things (read strutting around infront of the mirror). I'm jealous - we've just moved into a new house and my beloved dressing room has been replaced by a guest room :boohoo:

    Hi...

I have a room in my house that I use as a 'walk in wardrobe'.

I love it.. It just gives me so much more room in the bedroom.

I have a 7x7 metre room, with full length mirrors and wardrobes all the way round with one shoe rack for flip flops. (Around 30 pairs!) I also keep my heres in the dustbags in one of the wardrobes. In one of the corners I have a dressing room, to try on items before i decide on an outfit.

Then i have what you could call an 'Island' in the middle with shoe boxes on and in. I keep all my shoes in shoe boxes with polaroids on the side or lid with the shoes displayed. It's my favourite room in the house, as you can immagine!
