I have a new job-type thing for 2006 and I go for my training tomorrow. The job is 30 hours/month translating at an agency and I'm a freelancer but I have to use their software so I need to go to them (otherwise I'd do it in PJs at home).
At my last agency, I used to wear standard jeans and a jumper to work, but I don't have a work wardrobe anymore and don't know what to wear. Gah!
I was GOING to wear skinny indigo jeans (bit faded now) tucked into black cowboy boots (not OTT cowboy heel but not fashiony either, just nice, honestly) with a chunky black polo neck and a parka. My BF said that was too casual :boohoo: I don't have any pants in my wardrobe, they are all too sma... I mean they shrunk over Christmas and I don't want to wear a skirt or a shirt.
I only really have these jeans ATM and another pair that I could wear over my boots if need be. I can sort out the top, I just need help on the bottom. How can I make my jeans look smarter when they are not really?

If your accessories are good (smart shoes and here) you might be OK as long as your jeans are fairly 'classic' (say bootcut over more fashiony skinnies). Dark indigo (or black) jeans especially worn with a smart top and coordinated shoes and here can work for smart casual office wear IMO.
Although I do agree with Sakura - black trousers would probably be safer; first impressions and all.

I do have a pinstripe blazer but it's a bit punky. It's also a bit chillsville ATM.
Aaargh! I really don't want any black work trousers. I have some black trousers in my wardrobe that fit actually but they are crease-down-the-front type and OTT for daywear IMO. I think everybody will be in jeans and jumper, as it's not the kind of workplace that clients go and visit, I just don't want to stand out in my skinny jeans.
Doh! I've forgotten how to wear smart clothes. I just want to wear something comfortable.
