quick ebay question
I won some boots on ebay from a US seller, for $80 plus postage. I've now got a note from the post office saying that I've got to pay customs charges for £13.93 when I pick them up.
I haven't really bought stuff from the US apart from Lush, so is it usual to be charged when buying second hand stuff from America? I feel a bit cheated as that's made em quite a bit more expensive!
ta for your help x
Answer:
'Fraid so, although clever sellers 'fiddle' the customs sticker on the front stating the contents are a gift or of a low value like $5 so you won't have to pay customs this end.
Answer:
Unfortunately its luck whether your purchase gets caught or not. Most ebayers will put "gift" on the front, but then they cant put anything inside relating to ebay. If they get caught doing that there's loads of trouble
Answer:
Oh really? Curses, I should have asked her to do that...
Thanks Rosali

Makes no difference in some cases. I ordered a face cream a few weeks back and the seller put $5 on the package. Customs took it upon themselves to OPEN it up and revalued it at its real price. I got a bloody card from the postman informing me that I had to pay £52 if I wanted my package!
Told them to **** off! It cost me £8 inc postage so what the hell was I gonna pay an additional £50 for! The parcel's still in the sorting office as far a I'm aware and I bought the same item again and it got through customs fine.

Right, this is a Part 2 of my Search for the White and Black Blouse saga. I sent the entire day in Manchester today looking for one and only managed to find one (!) in Reiss. Unfortunately it was 1- too dressy and more of a party top 2- £110
However, I saw this dress in Top Shop
Now, as a dress it does nothing for me but its top part is pretty much exactly what I was looking for as blouse. I asked the sales girl about these and she said they used to come in a top as well but it was an old line and they had none left any more. I had a look in a different branch but the girls there couldn't find any either so I ended up buying this last dress.
Do you think I could have it made into a blouse? Would it be expensive? Or, bearing in mind that the dress itself was already £75, do you think I should just take it back? :meh:
    Answer:
i'm sure you could, pretty much chop the bottom off really, i doubt it would cost all that much really... i take it you've folded it up to top length and tried it on with what you'd wear and such?
    Answer:
Its cute as a dress and would probably be cute as a top too, not cure how much it would cost to get it altered. Could you get it made into a top and a mini?
Alternatively I saw this in M+S the other day which is a bit similar and cheaper:)
Hmm, when I say similar, I mean its a black and white blouse! Similar material though!
    Answer:
Oh what a bugger they don't still do the top.... however if it is exactly what you had in mind I think it would be fairly easy to make into a top, but as annanas has said have you fiddled/pinned it up etc to make sure it looks ok?
    Answer:
i think that would look really nice as a blouse. now i REALLY AM GOING TO BED!!

Can't stop dreaming about owning a pair or grey shorts (Knee length) with sliver thread through them. No idea where I got this idea from as I can't seem to spot any? Any baggers seen any about?
    Answer:
I have the short TS ones that are that colour and they do a knee length skirt, but I've not seen any long shorts I'm afraid.
    Happy hunting.

    Answer:
Thats Mimi, just checked the TS site after I read that and clicked the shorts section, guess what the first pair of shorts were to come up? I'm so ditzy some days!

    Hi angel
jillybeads.co.uk sells a wide selection of beads and some swarovski. I don't know if they do beads but they definitely do some crystal shapes. They also sell the tools and strings/clasps etc.
