French Sole Fans

NO.1. Ask :
French Sole Fans
I've just read that French Sole are having their first ever sale from Monday for one week only. Apparently prices start at £15.
I might just have to pop along ;)
Answer:
me too! :yay:
Answer:
ooh,bargainous!!!:yay:
Answer:
Is there any chance this sale would be extended to their on-line shop???
Answer:
hmmmmm... I've been the French Sole shop, and they never have the shoes I like in my size! I doubt I'll be going down to the sale - it'll be a madhouse. Think I read about the sale in the Times newspaper, so everyone will be there!
Don't know if the online shop will be on sale - hope it is as it's really useful.

  • Finding a shirt to fit

    NO.2. ask :
    Finding a shirt to fit
I know this has been discussed here many times but I've never really found an answer. I would really like to buy a couple of shirts to fit me. But it's the same every time:
    - You can get petite-length shirts, but you can't fit your boobs in.
    - You can get Bravissimo shirts with more room up top, but they don't make them in a petite length and the sleeves are far too long.
Has anyone with this "problem" ever actually found a shirt that fits? What do you do if you have to dress smartly for work but you can't find one to fit? Do you just go to work looking a mess or have you found the answer? What do you actually wear to work on your top half?
It has to be said, I have never, ever found a shirt that fits well. There *must* be one there somewhere.
    Answer:
as said before - muji! wearing my white muji shirt today! however, i layer, so i'm wearing two vests under it and the buttons only done up below my boobs. makes them look great, and shows that the rest of me isn't massive as well... i think you just have to keep searching and trying loads on - eventually one will fit ok. and when it does, buy it in every colour available!
    Answer:
Oooh, thanks for that - I don't think I've ever been to Muji in my entire life! I'll give it a go...
    Answer:
What about the opposite problem then?
I'm a size 12, but with a thick waist, broad shoulders and small boobs (what a freak I sound!!). I can never get shirts that fit round my waist and my boobs. Most that might actually be flattering to wear have darts in the back to fit to your waist. But I always end up with a bizarre billowing in fabric in the middle of my back like I've got a hump or something!! I think it's because my little A cups don't pull the front of the shirt out enough, if that makes sense!
I wear layered t-shirts and knits to work, with trousers or a skirt for in the office days, or with a suit if I've got meetings!
    Answer:
I find Thomas Pink and TM Lewins shirts quite good, although I'm not sure how much you are willing to spend? They last really well and come in a variety of styles and lengths.
Whereabouts are you based? I've found some shops better than others in terms of helpfulness and could possibly suggest somewhere.

  • Deodorant *sigh*

    NO.3. ask :
    Deodorant *sigh*
It seems that I can't wear *anything* on my top half without covering it in white deodorant marks. I've started using Mitchum and it's definitely made a bit of a difference, but I just can't get rid of the marks completely.
    Grah.
    Answer:
do you let it dry properly first?I am terrible for not letting it dry, then getting white marks, and like you,I've started using Mitchum as it was recommended on Beauty-its much better than the one I was using and smells lovely too.
    Answer:
I use the Mitchum hydro stick and hardly get any white marks :) Is it the stick you use?
    Answer:
i've got a nivea pure roll-on and it's very good for white marks, i rarely get any :)
    Answer:
a tip i learned on here ;) is if you have white marks, just rub it with pop socks or tights and watch the marks disappear :) it really works too!!

    NO.4. ask :
Is it acceptable to give bad feedback.....
...... if you receive an ebay item that's dirty?
I received my zara black cape yesterday, which is a lovely shape etc, but which I couldn't even bring myself to try on because it is covered in fluff, dandruff ( I presume?), and generally looks (and smells!) like it was left on the floor of a pub for a night.
It will be fine once I dry clean it, but am I being naive in presuming that people should at least only sell Clean bloody items???
I'm actually in shock that somebody would have so little respect both for themselves and others to sell something on like that........
    Answer:
It probably was found in a pub or club hence it being on ebay. I'd leave neutral and mention that the item was filthy.
    Answer:
I'd leave neutral too - say something like lovely item but needs dry cleaning which wasn't mentioned in the description.
    Answer:
do what you think is appropriate-it should be a neg,as Ebay rules say clothes should be clean anyway!!!Have they left you f/b?
    Answer:
I'd never leave a negative without contacting the seller first.
Agree that the item should have been in clean wearable condition though...some sellers

  • Alterations

    NO.5. ask :
    Alterations
When you choose to buy something, is your decision partly based on whether or not it needs altering? Do you think "well, I can take it in a bit" or do you refuse to buy it on the grounds that shops should make things to fit properly, therefore you don't see why you should have to go to the bother of altering something?
I don't mind taking hems up on skirts, but anything more complicated and it just puts me off buying it.
    Answer:
i dont bother altering anything. if it doesnt fit straight away i dont buy it. Apart from anythng the stuff i buy is usually so cheap i'm speanding about the same amount on the garment as i am on the alts!
    Answer:
I've wasted so much money buying clothes thinking I'll either grow/shrink into them, or alter them, and never do. I try not to do that any more but am still prone to the odd too-big shoe purchase, just because I love them so much. Hopefully I'll grow out of that at some point as well.
    Answer:
if jeans are too long (which these days they sometimes are with those gigantic 38" inseams and whatnot) i don't mind taking them up, it only takes 5 minutes. other than that i don't really bother. jackets are often too long because i have a short upper body so i can have a hard time with those but zara jackets tend to fit me well so it's not like i can't find anything.
    Answer:
I'm fine with taking up hems but other than that I cant really be bothered. I needed a velvet skirt, and there was one in the sale in New Look for a couple of quid, but it just needed too much doing to it.
