Black and white party!
Hi all, I've been invited to a 21st on Saturday, the theme is black and white...
Now blck would be great, but white! I have no white in my wardrobe (Oh and I don't have a black and white stripey top either, but I'm guessing that will be the uniform!)
The only white things i c think of are fitted shirts, but I don't want to look like a waitress!
What could I buy (cheaply, as I don't wear white!) for the occasion?
Any advice appreciated!

How about wearing black but have white accessories like bag, belt, headband/scarf. I know what you mean about white clothes though, I only have one white vest and I don't wear it on it's own cos it always looks a bit see through!

That's the thing- the only white accessory I have is a big white belt, I suppose I could wear a cute black outfit with the white belt, but god knows what shoes/bag etc!
I have quite a few white vests but that's about it really, those and shirts!

These parties look great as it looks so slick, OH and i were tempted to do a dress code similar to this for our wedding!

I suppose there are no set rules but it's a bit of an insult not to make an effort!
I have a black pleated wool mini, which I wear a black jumper (circle cut around the neck- not cleavagey) together with a belt over it looks like a cute 60s mini dress! Will probably wear a cute black beret with it too.
Could wear some cute black courts, but not sure which bag! I don't have a white one, but I could possible find a nice black one, it'd feel a bit too black though!
I could nip into claire's accessories and get some white beads/bangles etc to break it up a bit, that way the only new thing I'm buying is the cheap jewellery!

Hello,
It's almost the weekend (okay everyday's the weekend for me at the moment, but the official weekend means other people aren't working as well) so what is everyone up to and what will you be wearing???????
Tomorrow I have an interview for a job I actually want first thing and will be trying to look as smart as I can which is quite tough when you own no smart clothes :p then I am hoping to pop into Primark in Hammersmith to see what they've got.
Then I will be going to yoga before treating Mr Mimi to a yummy dinner and a night in.
Saturday will be more gym fun and more yoga followed by (inevitably drunken) night out with LizzieB and Mitchey. Am thinking of wearing shorts I've just made, but will probably take the safe option and settle on grey drainpipes, my chloe cami and some Marc heels
Sunday will be inevitably hungover, but I will be scoffing bacon and eggs on toast at my favourite cafe with Mr Mimi, offering to give him a hand with his tax return and regretting being so nice.

Tomorrow getting up early to order tickets and then go the gym. Then I have to get back and tidy up as people are staying round after a party and I need to get some of my coursework done :rolleyes:
Friday night is the party and people staying over. Saturday morning getting up to order tickets if I miss them tomorrow and then being dragged to McD to breakfast. Come to think of it thats all my plans for the weekend, except to go and see a fireworks display on Saturday night, I love firework night :) :yay:

Meeting a friend in town tomorrow who i haven't seen for ages so it'll be lunch and then shopping. I'll be wearing my Topshop jeans, simple white vest top and a shrug.
I'm going to go shopping to the bullring on Saturday day, i'll probably wear my skinny jeans, slouchy boots, Roll neck jumper and my Topshop crochet hat.
Saturday night i'll wear my Black River Island Dress, heels and dress it up with a few accessories.
Sunday i'll just be recovering from the night before ;)

Shellys had some most beautiful beautiful suede ankle boots with satin ribbons around them, red possibly other colours. Unfortunately that was over a month ago so they are likely to be gone, but could be worth to pop in if you are near anyway.

Anyone out there think that during the sales etc that for the bargains in the sales you are sometime better off buying designer than highstree? As a big accessory (bags :) buyer sometimes I just think that buying designer is a better option.

Yep I agree. The price difference isn't as big as the quality difference I think. I also think bags and shoes are especially worth spending more on.

Yes, but you have to bear in mind that a lot of the best/most popular designer stuff is sold out before it makes it to the sales or is never put on sale.
Sometimes when you go to these designer sales what's on offer is the stuff that nobody wanted so I'd just be a little wary!

I think if you want a long lasting classic piece and you are lucky enough to see something designer in the sales then go for it.
As Sakura said a lot of stuff in designer sales tends to be the stuff nobody wants, but if there's a piece that floats your boat then go for it.
My OH got me some black Gucci boots one Christmas reduced from around £400 to £225. They are classics and i will be able to wear them for years to come. Although i would have never paid that much myself:o
