Accessory ideas for Maroon Grecian Dress
Hi,
I 'found' my Grecian dress in my wardrobe which i never wore before and i thought if i accessorize, it would work well for xmas (ive never worn it! and bought in sales last year)
Its got thick straps - one has a gold bar, and cowl necked and up to my calves.
Issues :
I am conscious about my arms but dont want to look frumpy with a cardi - more glam grecian goddess
What jewellery : i was thinking cuffs and really long rope chains but is this OTT
What shoes : i have bronze tie up sandals but again, should i buy maroon to match the dress?
Hair - if i put it up, it sortof accentuates the size of the rest of my body so was going to do ringlets/curls?
Bag?
Am dark skinned, hourglassy pearshaped busty!
I may be invited to my new job work party and im conscious everyone will be blonde media types with great bodies and ill look a bit frumpy
Answer:
What about a shrug like this from Warehouse although I'm not really sure about the bow
Do you have a pic of the dress you can post?
Answer:
Cover-up - I'm having a bit of trouble picturing the dress, but a sparkly bronzy shrug (TK Maxx have some) or pashmina could work.
Accessories: I like the idea of cuffs, but I think I might be tempted to go with gorgeous earrings rather than a necklace.
Bronze sandals sound perfect.
Hair - I think dresses like this do look better with your hair up, but if you feel too self-conscious like that, how about having it waved and slightly drawn back (sort of like a half pony tail) or held away from your face with some gorgeous jewelled combs?
Bag - Something quite delicate; how about either a little jewelled beaded bag (Accessorize, TK Maxx) or a simple plain satin clutch?
g_k
Answer:
Pashmina maybe in the same maroon colour - you might be lucky or in a bronzy colour.
I'm with geek_kitten on the jewellery front. A necklace might be too much for a cowl neckline. Go for jewelery with a bronze accent.
Bronze sandles sound lovely
I would go with an upstyle for the hair to show the dress off to its full potential but you could so a half upstyle by pulling back some ringlets in a knot.
I would go with a nice bronze either sparkly or maybe a chainmail one to tie everything in together

Anyone got an Ollie and Nic star bag?
if so whats it like ie how big etc.
    Answer:
I haven't got one, but I saw a few in Urban Outfitters. They looked medium-sized, i.e. A4 maybe slightly bigger. It was lovely, but I wouldn't spend £50 on a bag.
    Answer:
what kind of handles were they?
    Answer:
The design I saw had two handles. One on each side. It was more like a carry bag but I suppose you could put it over your shoulder. Bag was made of canvas as were the handles.

I've got a few so far - I'm dead proud of myself because I normally leave it to the last minute :D
Mum - Espresso maker with milk foamer thing on the other side £29.99 on Amazon, half price, then a discount code I had for a fiver off :D, 2 really cute espresso cups with saucers, and my friend's going to nick me a bag of expensive coffee beans from his work (he works in a 5* hotel). When I was growing up, it was always just me and mum, so I get her quite a few things, because they were the only presents she had to open on Christmas morning until the rellies had been round.
Mum's boyfriend - a USB kit full of useless gadgets that I know he'll love, like a USB light, a USB hoover, a USB heated coaster and a USB fan. Came to about £15 because they were all reduced on alt-gifts
My wee sister - a Cinderella dress out the Disney Shop. It was expensive but she's obsessed with Cinderella and will love it (plus it was so gorgeous I had to buy it :o)
Dad's girlfriend - Olive tasting set with speciality olives, a ceramic olive jar and special olive ladel with a hole in it - £8.99 from Tesco :yay: and Jamie's Italy cook book.
That's it, but even then it's a head start that I don't normally get. I've no clue whatsoever for what to get my dad though.
My friends will get stuff like a hot chocolate lover's kit (again out of Tesco, a fiver :D), clutch bags, bag charms, make-up, or goodies off 3 for 2 on the Boots website.
    Answer:
Gosh, you are soooooooo supa-organised, CiC!
Luckily I don't celebrate so I don't usually end up too poor at Xmas and can splurge in the Jan sales. I only buy a supply of champers for the various parties I go to (a bottle for each do, leftovers for me!) and Mr PC gets a pressie (probably a digital camera as he's been wanting one). My best friend renews my subscription to InStyle every Xmas, and I do his for some car mag or other...

I went to the Topshop thing not that long ago, and you had to have special flyers that they were giving out a while back to get in. And student ID, as it was students only. I've never seen so many Topshop junkies in the one place at the one time  I didn't really like it as it was SO busy, but got a few bargains, and free booze so can't complain.
