FAO Claireabelle
Hey
Potentially silly question but did you cut the strings off the cami of your RI cream top?
If so does it sit ok?
Cheers :)
Answer:
no i didnt cut them off, but i took the cami top to the local 'sewing shop' as i call it, and had it made into a V neck, because you could *just* see the top of it underneath when it was round neck, and had the straps altered slightly.
HTH. :)
Hosiery returns question
NO.2. ask :
Hosiery returns question
I bought a pair of hold-ups recently from Ann Summers and was informed when I bought them that there are no returns on hosiery.
Now that's usually fine, but I just tried them on, and the top lace bit (the hold-up bit) ripped right off the rest of the stocking, so now they're absolutely useless and I only wore them for a total of approx. 2 seconds!!
They weren't that cheap either... Do you think that Ann Summers would allow me to exchange them for another pair, or do you think they won't, seeing as I was informed of the returns policy when I bought them?
cheers

Answer:
If they're faulty, you're entitled to a refund or exchange. Try it.

Answer:
Tried getting an exchange today, and they wouldn't let me!! I explained nicely what had happened but was told that they cannot do exchanges without authorisation from customer services. The girl gave me a number to phone but they are not open today. What a wasted trip! Was fuming !
Oh and the worst bit is, the girl had the cheek to say "the size small/medium is meant for size 8-16 only." I'm a size 10!!! :cmeek:
I think this is the first time I've ever had trouble returning something ...
Hopefully it goes ok when I phone up customer services.
Answer:
I used to work for AS and they never did returns on hosiery, as they say there is no way of knowing that you haven't torn/damaged the item yourself, which I personally don't think you'd try to return if you'd done it yourself, but there are some cheeky people who do.
Customer service are quite helpful, but i'd be surprised if they would do anything.
Answer:
when you ring them tell them that the goods were faulty and therefore not fit for purpose - they cannot refuse a refund or exchange for a faulty items - its the law!
if they refuse tell them you have already contacted Trading Standards etc and that you want their address then send a letter by recorded delivery containing the stockings
the liability is on them to prove the item was not faulty when bought plus (usually deemed 6 months) you have a reasonable time from purchase to return faulty items
it will be quite easy for them to test and prove if the item was faulty or deliberately torn etc
they will try and refuse on the basis that they assume customers are thick and are scared to challenge a big company so dont back down

FAO Dooz! Re: Antik Batik top!
Hiya:wave:
Just wondered if you've recieved your antik batik top from La Redoute?
I got ine today, and must admit I am feeling rather :cmdunno: about it.
it is totally differen to what i expected, but in a funny way, it could look vintage..
I don't know- are you keeping yours and what would you wear it with?
TIA:D
Answer:
Not Dooz but i ordered that top.
I posted on the WDYBTW thread to tell you it's not at all like the pic. In fact i don't think it is the same top, mine came with a note to say that the top is a different material to that advertised. Looks awfully cheap IMO and not at all what i expected so i returned it straight away. Was very disappointed cos it looked so lovely in the pic.:cmdunno:
Answer:
Ah sorry maybe it wasn't dooz that ordered it, but you *D'oh!*
Yeah it's weird isn't it, I am returning it on monday, just can't see me wearing it tbh!
Answer:
Hey hon!Just saw this thread now, no it wasn't me who ordered it I'm afraid  but I did appreciate it! Sorry to hear its a bit :cmdunno:
how would you wear this?
NO.4. ask :
how would you wear this?
now i have worked out how to post pics (thanks to g_k) i wondered how you stylish people on here would wear this:
i wore it to work the other day with a brown/cream thin scarf which looked ok, and black knee high boots. i think that was a bit too much black though! the dress comes just below my knees btw.
as its empire line, i wasnt sure if a belt would look right? theres already a tie from the sides to the back.
so, im looking for some fashion inspiration please!
Answer:
Lovely dress; I'm slightly obsessed with black empire line jersey dresses.
In off hours, how about pairing it with eye-popping tights (hot pink or mustard say!) and patent wedges or Mary Janes? I think a wide waist belt might work too if you have it snugged up high
For work, I'd swap the tights for fishnets with a close weave or grey opaques and wear it with patent courts or brightly coloured shoes (red, hot pink, emerald, metallic) and beads.
I also think that olive can look strangely good with black - try olive shoes with black opaques, wooden chunky jewellery and (perhaps) a tan waist belt?
And finally, nude shoes are great with black dresses. Go with nude fishnets (Topshop have some), nude shoes and a single eye-popping piece of jewellery.

Cardigan
NO.5. ask :
Cardigan
Has anyone seen any plain grey v-neck cardigans anywhere? It seemed like a couple of months ago they were everywhere and now that I need one I can't find any :boohoo:
Answer:
I saw some in BHS yesterday - might not be quite what you were looking for - they were the longer ones, they had either grey or wine.
Answer:
Zara had some the last time I went in there.
Answer:
A few weeks ago, I bought a plain black one from Dorothy Perkins (it's the longer type and ruched on the sides) :)
Answer:
Gap are usually pretty reliable for basics such as cardigans. You could try MS and H+M as well :)
