Personal shoppers and image consultants
Has anyone or does anyone know someone who's ever used a personal shopper, either at a department store or one who works independently, or used the services of a style adviser at any shop? If so, what was the experience like and were they helpful? Or alternatively, has anyone ever been to an image consultant and what's the difference?
Answer:
As far as I know the personal shoppers in shops aren't trained in any form of Image consultancy, I think from what baggers have said, they are standard SA's and not very helpful. It may be different in Selfridges but who was it who went to Topshop and debenhams and said they were crap?
An image consultant will go through your wardrobe with you, look at what suits you, your figure, colouring and then help you to put things together and choose new things, they will also help you with make up and go shopping with you for new stuff. They generally help boost your confidence and teach you to stop buying things which you never wear and show you how to look fabulous darling!
I am hoping to train to be one in the not too distant future, fingers crossed.
Answer:
Would love to know how you go about doing that Bella! My friend often says i should do something like that as i help her with her outfit dilemmas:p
Answer:
Thanks for the reply. Looks like I'm stuck then because most of the department stores have a free personal shopping service now, but if they're not any good then...
How much do image consultants charge? Something tells me I can't afford it.
Answer:
Cat, I'll PM you....
PurpleKaren, you could give it a try, it's free so you have nothing to lose, as I haven't had it done personally I can't say if it's good or not I am just going on what baggers have said in the past. I think the worst one was Topshop when the girl was very young and it just wasn't happening.
An image consultant's fees can vary, you're in London right? Try looking for one registered with The Federation of Image Consultants (TFIC) here http://www.tfic.org.uk/
Minky's mad shoe frenzy....

Minky's mad shoe frenzy....
As I put away all my summer shoes into their boxes for the winter (yes, anal, I know ;)), I realied there were RATHER a lot of new shoes!!!
So I thought I would confess my sins to you girls and that this would make me feel less guilty :p . Some of you helped me buy the Russell and Bromley ones, and I DID promise to post a piccy! So here goes!!! :o :o :o
It all started with a drunken lunch with some baby friends, where I admired Shamu's shoes.... off to Clarke's we went after lunch and these were bought under the influence....
Then we went to Bicester, and I decided to treat myself to some Tod's to celebrate end of exams. I couldn't choose :o
Then friends came on holiday and found these in the sale at Jane Shilton
, so of COURSE I had to have some too (such a bargain).
Then these ones lept out and bit me in Kate Kuba, also in the sale, and also a bargain, but sadly not as comfy as my Birkies.
Then we went on holiday in Italy and I think you HAVE to buy shoes in Italy
Then finally, I got the urge for the R and B ones.
:o :o :o
Confession over!!
Minky
PS none of these were very expensive... well, except the Tod's and they were a bargain!

My car is currently poorly and the earliest slot to fix it is next Friday :faint:, so no shoe shopping for me in person at the moment...doesn't say I can't do it over the net though!! ;) :ad:xx

Answer:
Oooh! Lovely shoes :) *is very jealous* especially the bottom R+B ones! Its okay, you're meant to vary your shoes alot anyway, scientists proved it's good for your feet to wear alot of different styles, heel heights etc. So you're just looking after your health!
Answer:
The Russell Bromley ones are gorrrrgeous, how much were they ?
Answer:
I got them for the sale price of £59  but alas they are no more (major effort to find them!!!!!).

Stylish sports bag
NO.3. ask :
Stylish sports bag
A feature in this week's Grazia on stylish sports bags set me to thinking that I might like one for Christmas.
I tend to carry gym or running kit on the walk to and from work four or five times a week in a scraggy old small rucksack that makes a bit of a mockery of any attempts to look smart.
The trouble with the Grazia bags was that most of them seemed designed to sling in the back of your car, not to actually walk with. Is there such a thing a stylish bag that can be carried on your back but that doesn't look like a standard nylon rucksack?
Style-wise sporty isn't my thing so any suggestions welcome....
Answer:
I don't know OJO sorry, thought I'd bump this up for you though....

Making sandals gold

Making sandals gold
1 Attachment(s) I have these shoes from Faith which I love and have been wearing to death all summer. The problem is they are rapidly dying and I can't find another pair.
I bought them in white as well and I was thinking I could spray those gold or bronze as I don't really wear the white at all.
Has anyone sprayed shoes before??? What is the best spray? Where would I get it and is this a totally dumb idea???
Mimi xx
Answer:
I remember Miss Sweetcheeks spraying something (shoes?) gold. I think she'll be able to tell you!
Answer:
Thanks PC. Do you think it's a dumb idea that could only go horribly wrong??
Mimi x
Answer:
It's a good idea, as you're not getting use out of the white ones so you have nothing to lose by spraying them gold.
I can't see how it would go horribly wrong - just make sure you spray in an open area (imagine the fumes are quite toxic) and put some old newspapers down and wear gloves or something so you don't accidentally spray something gold that you didn't mean to!
I am sure Miss SC had a thread on it somewhere... maybe you could do a search?
Answer:
Nah, I reckon this could work.
If you cover over all the bits you don't want spraying with something like masking tape, and then stuff them with newspaper you should be ok!!
