What to wear to recruitment interview

NO.1. Ask :
What to wear to recruitment interview
Hey girls,
I have an interview with a recruitment agency on Friday and I have no idea what to wear?!!
I don't think a suit is necessary at all but can't think of what to wear... do you think I should go for something quite formal or something smart but a bit more funky. I'm just thinking about the weather, if it's like today on Friday then I don't want to get all hot and sticky before I get there ( I have a 45 minute bus ride and then a 30 minute train journey to get there)
Do you think linen trews anda smart top with ballet flats is ok, or is that too casual? and what bnaout black city shorts?? again I think it might be too casual. I don't actually have anything really smart ( I'm a teacher ya see so I wear whatever I like to work usually)
Help!!

Answer:
What kind of recruitment (e.g., industry and level of candidates)? What will you be doing? (e.g., admin or consultant) Where is the company located? (e.g., suburbs or city)
Sorry for all the questions, but it might help us to give you more specific advice.
(BTW, I used to work for a financial headhunting firm in the City of London.)
:)
Answer:
Hey Jasmine, sorry it just all kind of bumbled out and I didn't really think about what I was writing :)
It's with a Recruitment Consultants in Plymouth, in the City centre. I am going for a career change, they're interviewing me for a job as an administrator with a local charity as I want to get into charity fundraising and this job is the perfect foot in the door job. :)
Answer:
 Sorry Mightyboosh, it sounded as though you were going to an interview to work in a recruitment agency! :D
I would say that you don't need to wear a suit unless you also have PA duties or will be supporting a senior staff member. Though it would probably be easier if you did wear a 'soft' suit as you don't need to worry so much about accessorising, whole look, etc..
Otherwise, something smart but conservative would be okay, because, IMHO, if you dress too 'fashiony' it might count against you.
What about wearing something that you'd normally wear to, say a parents' evening or wearing what you wore when you were being interviewed for your teaching job(s)?
BTW, as the interview is with a recruitment agency, they might also consider you for other roles at the same time, so best not to limit yourself by your choice of outfit.
:)
Answer:
ive registered with a lot of agencies over the past year and unless it was a very prestigious job ive never really dressed up for it. all the agencies are in my town so i usually pop in whilst mid shopping :) never look rough or anything but never particularly dressed up, just casual. x

  • Spree or steal?

    NO.2. ask :
    Spree or steal?
I always love those 'spree or steal' articles in fashion mags where you basically put some cheapie stuff (steal) with very very very expensive items (spree).
Now call me stoopid but I can't tell the difference in quality between 'spree or steal' pieces a lot of the time!
Now this is an advantage for someone who is alway's on a budget (me)....but in the interests of deciding on the best ways of spending my money (like investment clothes buying), what items and which retailers do you guys 'spree' on and what items and which retailers do you 'steal' on?
For example, do you think it is a crime to spend 4.99GBP or 499 GBP (pound sign on comp isn't working sorry!) on a here as this is the one piece that brings an outfit together?
I'm from the camp where you put cheapie with even cheaper so need tips to squeeze the most from those pennies and basically make my outfits appear to be much much more expensive than they are!
    Answer:
i spree on shoes, bags and jeans. the rest i'm not all too picky about. well except make-up ;)
    Answer:
I think it's hard to tell the difference sometimes on the page, especially with clever styling. The rub is when you look at the quality of the fabric and finish. As a rule of thumb I spend on classic pieces and save on seasonal ones.
    Answer:
I've looked at those steal or spree pics and I think it's unfortunately very rare that you can't tell which is which.
I've been pleasantly surprised sometimes tho'
I'm from that other camp where they buy less stuff but better stuff!
    Answer:
I'm from that other camp where they buy less stuff but better stuff!
Sakura, i wish wish wish I could do this, but I just love having lots of things. That way there are regular periods of shameless shopping and wearing new shoes in bed...so if I tried to buy less but better quality, I'd end up wanting to have lots at better quality!

  • Wearing glasses with non-prescription lens in them

    NO.3. ask :
Wearing glasses with non-prescription lens in them
Do you know of anyone who does this? I have seen some fab designer frames but they tend to look different once prescription lenses are fitted in them compared to when they just have the clear, demonstration lenses that you first see on the shelf. A pure accessory thing I know but just wondered if this was common.
    Answer:
I was wondering this myself. I was helping a girl in the office pick out some new frames and I really liked these. The colour in the main pic isn't that nice but I'd like them in tortoise/pink. There are three little diamonds on each arm, real of course ;) )
    Answer:
I'm not sure, but I just wanted to say that the link doesn't work.
I can't see why you can't wear glasses with clear glass in, I don't think it would be noticable. :meh:
I don't know anybody who has done it, so can't help you there..
    Answer:
Here's the pic, they come in:
    Black/ mango
    Black/ Lavender
    Demi Amber
    Tortoise pink
    Berry/ Rose
    Answer:
I hate wearing glasses - getting contact lenses was one of the best decisions I've ever made!

    Thanks!

Some of the stuff looks nice if you can look past the website design (especially the heavy grey that dominates the pages) and the model with the full arm tats!
Not that tats per se are bad but they seemed a bit incongruous with the clothes being modelled, especially in some pictures where they are only partly showing - it looks a bit untidy, IMHO.
    Sorry! :cmdunno:

    Want want want!!!
Let me know if you find anything out!
    Answer:
    That is a lovely dress.
If you're happy to have a different colour and a slightly different look, then I would suggest this dress from La Redoute?
    http://www.redoute.co.uk/redouteuk/s...,30143,00.html
It's probably not as saucy as the gold one - I would doubt whether my post-child body would look OK in that material though! Every lump and bump would show I think!! x

People that have bought from MS online
I'm guessing i'm talking to you fellow pewter boots buyers! :p
I ordered my boots on Friday. My order has been confirmed as it says so on the site when i look under 'All orders' yet still no money has been taken from my account?
Did they charge you upon dispatch and if so how long was it before they arrived?
    Thanks in advance x
    Answer:
MS aren't the quickest to process orders: I ordered on 1 Sept, the confirmation came thru on 2nd Sept. I was later emailed to say the boots would arrive by 14 Sept (!!!) but I got them on thursday 8 Sept last week.
Admit I haven't checked to see if they've taken the money, but expect they must have by now.
    Answer:
I got the confirmation on the same day i ordered but no dispatch email as of yet. Maybe i might drop lucky and not get charged:lol:
    Thanks PC!
    Answer:
It took ages when I ordered some trousers from there - about 3 weeks! They didn't take the money until they were dispatched.
    Answer:
I'll complain if it takes 3 weeks - they said 7-10 on the site! Bet you was fuming pippe!
I hate it in a way when they don't take money til dispatch because i usually forget i've ordered something and think i have more money than i have:rolleyes:
