WOO! new job! but what to wear?

NO.1. Ask :
WOO! new job! but what to wear?
Hey! I'm so happy I have a job. This is my first full time job EVER. Im going to be working on reception so I need A SUIT. I really don't want a blue or black one...unless they're a bit unusual. Also it really has to be cheap, ie. no more than £100 absolute tops. I want a skirt and a jacket really, but I'm open to trousers too. I live at the end of the earth and we have no HM, Mango, Primark, Zara etc.
Please help! xx
Answer:
Next? Noticed they had some nice work type clothes in the catalogue. And you can order online.
Answer:
Ooops! I was just about to type that Mango had usually nice suits....so maybe you are better off checking out Next or Dorothy Perkins where you should find a nice beige, brown or grey wool suit under 100p. :)
And congrats on your first job! :yay: ;)
Answer:
1 Attachment(s) Thankyou guys! You're always so wonderful and helpful on here. My mum had suggested next; what do you think of this? But in black. It's tweed I think. I dont like tweed but I love the shape of the jacket.
Answer:
I agree, that jacket looks really stylish!

    depressed! What can I buy?
    Hi All,
I'm having a really bad week :( and want to do some retail therapy tomorrow afternoon.
Problem is I'm on a diet and have swore not to buy any more clothes in this size so I guess I'm just left with accessories, bags and shoes.
Does anybody have any recommendations of relatively cheap stuff preferably in New Look, DP, HM, TK Maxx, River Island, MS or Asda as these are the only shop in the area I am shopping.
Please help. Before I sink even further into a depressed state!
    Thanks,
    Mel
    Answer:
I know how you feel. I've banned myself from buying new clothes, too.
Doesn't stop me from adding to my bags!
I'd go to TK Maxx if I were you - I can normally find a nice pair of shoes, and always one bag (at least!) to stop my craving for accessories! I think they have the best range of bags by far.
    Have fun shopping tomorrow :)
    Answer:
Bags and purses and here charms! Or how about a pair of designer sunglasses from TK Maxx?

Ooh, that's a good idea! I got a gorgeous pair of Celine glasses for £19.99 a few days ago! Bargain!
    Answer:
I got some Celine glasses from there too. If you can't find something in there that you like what about pampering yourself, i.e, new makeup, massage etc. I hope you feel better.

    Hi all,
feel incredibly shallow posting this when everything else is going on in London......
but...... i just bought a pair of brown cork wedges they are hard to describe but they are brown suedey things, closed toe, very 70's looking. and on have little tiny holes in the suede. They are £15.
Anywayyyyy i am clueless as to what to wear them with, the only thing i can come up with is jeans that are long enough to cover them... any suggestions, if anyone knows the shoes i'm talking about?!
    Answer:
They sound lovley :throb:, got a piccie of them?

O/T But I am really fed up......
Sorry to moan, but I found out last night that my boyfriend may not be able to take time off in August for us to go on holiday :( . We are meant to be going to Ibiza for a fortnight, but he's been told he can take the weeks off before I finish my contract, but not the two weeks after I finish  .
We are both freelance so it is almost impossible for us to synchronise holidays . I'm just about to finish a five month contract during which I've not been able to take half a day off and he's 2/3 of the way through a 7 month contract and has so far not even taken a minute off!!
It is so frustrating and I'm really gutted as I have hated my current contract and have been so looking forward to going away.
Any how sorry to blabber on, I was just hoping to get some sympathy :) .
And if anyone fancies a week in Ibiza in mid August with yours truly I'd be glad of the company!

    Answer:
Poor Mimi, that is really awful.... :hugs:
I'll come to Ibiza with you! never been before... :D
    Answer:
Aw bless, big hugs cause I know how you feel. Hubbie and I have not been able to co-ordinate more than TWO days off together since the start of the year, and its going to be the start of December before we can go away now cause it's the first time we'll get time off together.
Are you going to go without him or leave it til you can both go?
    Answer:
That is really shit! My new job are messing me around as well and won't give me a start date, so I have been unable to book a holiday yet - I have two weeks off after I finish this job which I am being paid for as extra holiday by my boss, so I need to take my holiday then.
We are recruiting at the moment so I have had to give a date when I am leaving , I just don't know when I am starting!
Oh - I can do Ibiza the first week of September ;)
    Answer:
Aw, so sorry to hear that Mimi :higgies: You poor thing, what a pity. Much sympathy coming your way!
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately for you :p) mid August is resit season and I can't get away, otherwise I'd have been interested!!!!

    Victorian-style tops for busty girls
I have tried on a couple of those Victorian-style button-up shirts but I don't think they really work when you're above a certain bra size. So, are there any Victorian-style tops that would work?
    Answer:
I agree, I love the style but anything with a high collarless neckline looks ridiculous on me.
    Answer:
the only thing i can think of is a similar style but making it lower cut. can't think of seeing anything like that though.
    Answer:
I have a victorian style top from New Look, it looks a bit like a corset, with hook and eye fastening up the front. Its cotton covered in lace and has lace cap sleeves. Its a short sleeved top rather than a high necked shirt (I haven't tried one of those yet, the ones i've seen all look like they came out of Austin Powers). It looks fine on me and my E cup bust.

    Answer:
You could try a frilly/ruffled shirt that is designed to be unbuttoned at the top. With or without collar. I can think of the odd one that I've seen that would suit a piratical/victorian gent look and possibly look good on a "curvy"*shape.
Haven't tried one on yet, so I could be wrong. But they had a nice lightweight cream silk pirate style one with a low, loose neckline and a very fine gold pinstripe in HM about a month ago. They almost certainly don't have any left now.
*In this post I'm interpreting curvy to mean approximately 34C or above, but neither short**, fat*** or dumpy****
