Tough trousers!!!
My brother wants to buy his girlfriend some leather trousers as they have a motorbike so obviously wants some for safety reasons.
However - he wants some that she doesn't have to take off everytime they get off the bike so they have to look good as we all know that leather trousers can look a bit ropey!
Any ideas girls?
Answer:
I ride a bike myself and would advise not to even bother with "fashion" leather trousers she'd be better off with a decent pair of jeans.
Depending on how much he wants to spend, and also what sort of figure she has got I can make a few suggestions of things I've found good.
My absolute favourite are my Hideout Leathers which are fab and for only a little extra cash can be made to fit properly. I have a City Jacket (£250) and City Jeans (£230) at the moment which are fairly traditional looking (inside the boots type) but I used to have a pair of metro pants (£180) which are a bootcut leather trouser which sit over boots and are more casual looking.
However if she is tallish then Hein Gericke do some decent ladies leathers which are a bit more reasonable price wise.
One major word of warning though, leathers are not designed to be comfortable when walking around! A cheaper and easier option may be to consider getting some draggin' jeans (kevlar reinforced jeans) or a pair of textile motorcycle trousers which would be around £70 - £100 instead.
Also it is all fairly pointless unless she has already got (in order of importance)
1) A well fitting helmet
2) Gloves (leather or textile motorcycle ones that don't pull off when fastened)
2) Appropriate footwear (preferably motorcycle boots, timberlands or walking boots at the very least. Never heels, its dangerous and IMHO it looks:sick: )
3) An appropriate jacket (hardwearing if not motorcycle specific)
I'm going to stop now as this is turning into a bit off a rant
:o but its a subject close to my heart, if you want any more info don't hesitate to PM me.
BTW my OH thinks I look incredibly sexy in my hideout leathers :p
Answer:
As former biker, I would say that fashion leather trousers were higly unlikely to fit the bill, simply too soft. I have my bike leathers complete with huge scuff down one leg to show just how much welly they take even when you come off at low speed. I'd say, don't compromise safety for vanity.
Colour help

Colour help
I am really bad at matching colours as I just can't see if they match or not :o . I usually just wear white or black tops to try and avoid matching stuff but today I am trying to be a bit more adventurous! I have a pale green top and coral coloured gypsy skirt. Is this totally horrendous? It doesn't look too bad to me but then I can't tell the difference anyway!
ETA - Here is a dodgy pic I took on my phone. Ignore the flab - I've just had a baby :p [IMG][/IMG]

Re: Colour help
It's hard to see on your phone pic (everything comes out so much greyer  doesn't it?) but I think it looks okay.
I like these colour combinations, as long as you don't overdo it. I stick to neutral and sometimes even metallic accessories, and I think it looks good.
There was a thread yesterday about colour combinations that you could search for, as there were some interesting suggestions on that.

ETA: Forgot to say that you can break up big blocks of colour with belts, I've recently found that they are really good at pulling outfits together.
Answer:
It looks like minty green and coral, which is one of my fave combos, so a big :great:!
Agree with madshopper on the metallics, maybe flipflops or a gold/silver weave belt to bring it together.
You don't look flabby, just shapely!
Answer:
It looks fine. What you can do is mix white with colours or black with a red top: or even the other way around! You can also accessorise with a colourful bag and/or shoes. Jewellery also looks great. Try some gypsy style earrings and a ring and rock on!
Answer:
I don't like mint with coral but that's a personal thing so I wouldn't worry. I think the thing with colours is to genreally not put more than two strong colours into an outfit and keep things fairly co-ordinated but not to matchy matchy.
Any Newcastle Baggers?
NO.3. ask :
Any Newcastle Baggers?
Hello!
There is a nice young man (23) in my office who is taking his ladyfriend to Newcastle for the weekend.
Can you recommend any decent bars or restaurants? They are staying in the Jury's hotel so they are pretty central.
Also, is there anywhere they should avoid?
Thanks in advance.
Answer:
That's very weird Blonde I just posted a similar thread on travel as I'm going this weekend too...
I used to live in Newcastle but haven't been since May last year so was wondering if there's any new bars/restaurants.
Think Karina lives there?.... and thinks there's another bagger called Lou?
When I was there we pretty much stuck to the quayside and left the Bigg Market well alone.... unless you like skinheads fighting that is...But it's pretty much a great night out wherever you go.
The Jury's Inn is full of hen and stag nights though!
Answer:
I`m a temporary Newcastle bagger, but unfortuantly I am not going to be much help as I haven`t been out yet.
Last time I was at home during Christmas we went to a couple of nice bars in and around the Gate and both sides of the keyside are good.
Jesmond seams to have some good bars for sundowners on the Osborne Rd. My sister also really recomends the resturant in the Baltic Flourmill as the view is amazing.
My cousin is a posh student in town so i will pick her brains over dinner tonight.
Answer:
Ok, well I quite like the bars around central station, there's a big Revolution and a cool little bar called Tokyo, there's also a new club nearby called Digital which is where Shindig is on a Saturday night, depends on whether he likes house music or not though and I suppose it's not the most coupley place! But all of those are really near the Jurys Inn.
There are some nice bars on Grey Street too, the Living Room is nice and has a nice restaurant too.
There are some nice-ish bars on the Quayside but it's stag and hen night central on a Saturday night. Sunday is the Hed Kandi night at Stereo which I love.
The Gate's ok, wouldn't be my first choice, there's Tiger Tiger there which is good sometimes and loads of not too expensive bars, Beyond is quite good.
I lived in Jesmond for a bit and Osborne road is pretty cool, quite nice on a Sunday afternoon if the weather's nice...
Definitely avoid the Bigg Market!! And Baja's unless he likes his cheese!
Ok my mind's gone blank now, but will post again if I think of anywhere vital I've missed!
Answer:
Oooh, this is fabulous girls, thanks.
I'll be sure to tell him all your ideas. I don't think he has got a lot of money (I know I shouldn't assume but he is only young and I know what he earns) so anywhere decent that won't bankrupt him for dinner would be great.
Why did I look...

o/t digital camera wobble how to avoid ?

o/t digital camera wobble how to avoid ?
Hi there - just trying to take some pics of stuff to go on ebay, (usually my husband takes the pics for me but he's at work!) every single picture i take is all wobbly out of focus, I havent really got shaky hands so dont think its from the wine i had last night i dont know, what am i doing wrong ??? !!!!
Answer:
I do this too! When i use flash though it seems to sort it out, higher speed at which the piccie is taken maybe?
Answer:
If you find out let me know. I do this with every third picture - even when I'm not using the zoom!
I did it more frequently with my last camera because it had a long shutter lag (this might be your problem) - I'd think the picture was taken and start to move but it hadn't actually finished yet. My current camera takes the picture much more quickly so I'm now assuming it's the high resolution I'm using that's causing me the problems. Maybe I should switch down.
If I could read the instruction book it would help! Unfortunately it's in japanese and I can only read the barest bit of it. As for the rest, after an hour frowning at the tiny print and straining my eyes with my dictionary I gave up!
*eta* this picture I took yesterday in my signature is actually quite blurry full size as I took it from across the other side of the room so I wouldn't disturb the cat and the digital zoom is particularly bad for blurring - I think you need a tripod really.
Answer:
Friday night I wasted two hours trying to take pics for ebay and every one was out of focus! I'm not normally that bad but it was such a waste of time. Saturday morning in a strop I drove down to Argos and bought a tripod for £14.99, no more wobble and a much easier life!! Apart from that I don't know what to suggest.
Answer:
Thanks for your quick replies - i thought i was just me ! the tripod sounds like a good idea, i am just clueless with cameras just cant be bothered reading the instructions!. I might have another go in a bit, but it just winds me upwhen they keep coming out all blurred !, so might just have to wait till O.H gets home, dont know how he does it they never comeout wobbly for him
