Smart black skirt for a short person!
Like a damn fool I didn’t buy an interesting smart black skirt that was the right length in Reiss a few months ago and now I can’t find anything right! (I still can’t convince myself that £75 isn’t hugely expensive, even though I can afford it!)
I’m after a smart flared, black, midlength skirt – not too much detail and preferably no other colour on it, but a nice cut. But everything in the shops comes out a stupid mid-calf length on me and everything around at the mo seems to have a cut or detail around the bottom that means getting it shortened is not an option. I’ve tried places that stock petites, but they only tend to do dull pencil skirts and nothing at all interestingly cut!
Has anyone seen the sort of skirt I’m after in a petite length, or even a medium-short skirt that might come out the right length on me (I’m about 5 foot 1)?
    Answer:
Re: Smart black skirt for a short person!
I'm also 5ft 1 and I really love the skirts at Coast, which you can get from House of Fraser and other department stores. They are fairly pricey at £50 - £80 but they are superbly cut and extremely flattering. They don't do a petite range but do have skirts in all different lengths so I can always find something. It's pay day soon...
    Answer:
Pehaps I'll try the coast shop in Kingston next time I'm there. I do love their stuff - my sister's a big fan and she's l'il like me!
    Answer:
if money isn't too much of a factor you could try joseph. they do lovely well-cut skirts in beautiful wool and i find they come up pretty small (i'm a size 8/10 and joseph is a medium for me) and never need shortening - and if they do, get yourself a selfridges card because the alterations are free!
benetton is another good place for wool skirts that don't need shortening.
basically, french and italian brands are the ones to try x
    Answer:
Ta - hadn't thought of Benetton. Will try the one near work.

  • Shall I keep, spray or sell these shoes?

    NO.4. ask :
Shall I keep, spray or sell these shoes?
    Heres the problem!
I bought these from Faith (at a barginous £8) I havent worn them yet due to the colour, they dont seem to go with skirts/jeans...
Should I spray paint them black? Would they look ok in black?
Or shall I cut my loses and hope for a profit from them?
(due to the flash they look like a Barbie pink but they are a dusty/purple shade)
    Cheers ladies :)
    Answer:
 Sorry for the pic sizes! :o
    Answer:
They look like a nice style, I say spray them!
    Answer:
Er by spraying them black they will just basically look like another boring black pair of shoes!
If they are pale pink then they probably would look ok with jeans and even city shorts/skirts? but is it a case that you are just not into pink?
Id keep them as they are as they would go with jeans, white trousers, brown trousers, beige, tan, camel and cream! :)
    Answer:
I'd spray them bronze myself :)

    :yay:
I have fallen in love with this skirt, but it's only polyester, not proper tweed and for £30 I dont think it's worth it. What do you think?
    Answer:
    Cling Factor!
I have a few tweed skirts and they all seem to have their own slip underneath as to prevent clinging...and these are mostly made of wool yet still!!!so....my advise is to stay away from synthetics whenever possible as I can imagine the skirt clinging onto your tights/stockings and being really unconfortable...sorry
    :(

    :(

It is lined and I NEVER wear tights. Ever. So that's not a problem.
And all my work clothes (bottom wise) are synthetic because if I wear anything that remotely creases I get up and look as if I've been scrunched up!
I'm really just concerned at the price. And it's from fashionworld.co.uk which I've never rated for quality... I just like it :(

You wear no tights/stockings during winter? Id be cold!
But anyway, if you dont mind synthetics, then go for it as it is a quite pretty skirt!
Anyway you can try it on firstly? :)
    Answer:
    Oh is online shopping! sorry!
The price seems fine to me and if at all possible, Id get the matching jacket too even if you wear them separately! :)
