Another boots thread.
I would like to buy some winter boots, I want them in black as I am really loving the goth/victorian/russian look which is apparently going to be big next season. I don't usually follow trends slavishly but I would really like to get some boots which complement this style. Any ideas? what kind will you be wearing??
ps I wont be wearing them over my jeans, but I would probably like to wear them with skirts or shorts and tights.
Answer:
Well there are the infamous buckle boots from TS of course, but basically I think anything with buckles is going to suit you fine.

NO! Please tell me Goth is not back in! I thought it was mainly Victorian, Russian, Military and Classy (ie pencil skirts, suits, etc)...but no Goth!  really dislike that gothic look of really white skin and all black items! yuck!
Anyway, regarding the boots!
Id suggest you invest in a pair of plain black leather ones, knee length, average heel (not too high) and check the usual high street stores. ;)
Answer:
I'd suggest something pretty plain with a slight detail
These are nice from Dorothy Perkins - £35 - They also do them in black but they aren't real leather. Gives you an idea though :)

What do you wear your waistcoats with?
I bought a really cute waistcoat in navy blue, the only problem is, it doesnt seem to go with anything i own. I am too busty to wear it by itself, as it is quite low cut. I always have this problem... as im an impulse buyer and never buy 'outfits' !...help?
    Answer:
Why dont you wear it with a cream/white/grey vest underneath and some jeans or shorts? Or over the top of a cream/white/grey (or many other colours) dress if you have one? I actually find navy one of the hardest colours to wear to be honest but waistcoats usually go with anything - as long as it's not a denim waistcoat with jeans!:nono:
    Answer:
I wore mine open over a white kaftan with cargo shorts on Saturday and was very pleased with the effect. I have the over generous boobage problem too, I think not doing up the waistcoat is the answer.
O/T I was very pleased to find a waistcoat that I bought for 50p in a Long Tall Sally several years ago lurking in the back of my wardrobe during a clearout last week :D
    Answer:
I dont actually own one and havent seen one around that I like (except a denim one in zara)...saying that, I saw both Posh and Kate Moss wearing a nice fitted black one with shorts/boots and they looked good....
So, you can deft wear them with city shorts, jeans, denim shorts, funky dresses or plain vests as per SP. ;)

I am so glad this thread came up I was going to post this today.
I bought one from George in Asda last night it is a camel colour, the buttons are a bit scabby loking for me so I am going to get some shiny military ones and replace them. great for £14.00.
My problem is big boobs and tops of arms.
I never wear a vest (Bar Jollys next week :yay: )
What do you ladies think I could wear with mine??
I am so skint because of this forum also!!!

help, o/t ebay non paying bidder
Sorry, just need a bit of help. I sold some trousers on ebay and they went for £16.50 incl pp with 7 bids(I know not alot). The winner didnt pay after one week even though i sent many emails, they didnt respond. They only have 3 feedback but all 3 are positive, and said they paid really fast. So after a week I sent a unpaid report. And it says 'an unpaid item dispute has been opened for this item' on my item. The dispute so far is me kindly asking them tp pay but I have no response at all.I do understand that people do have lives and maybe something has happened but I dunno. Now I just want to leave it and get my fees back, or is it too late for me to get my listing fees back?If so how do I do it because I cant see an option for it.
    Answer:
Perhaps you should email them one last time warning them that if you do not recieve the money or atleast a reply that the item will be relisted and negative feedback will be left.
    :)
    Answer:
The buyer could be on holiday? Anyway, I thought buyers and sellers had 30 days from the date of the auction ending to either pay or send out the goods?
    Answer:
    I'm having a similar problem.
Lady won the auction Friday and still hasn't paid, emailed her yesterday and she said she'd pay today, yet nothing:rolleyes:
Just send a polite email saying if payment hasn't been made by such and such a date i will have to relist.
I'm not sure how you go about filing a non paying bidder thing sorry.
If the buyer is on holiday they should inform you that they won't be able to pay til a certain date before bidding.
    Answer:
Hum, they bidded last minute I think, which makes me think they could had paid. But too be honest I just want to end it and get my fees back but am not sure how to do it. I dont have time to go to post office at moment.I honestly dont think I could wait another 30 days mrscoobie, lol, am very impatient. My instructions also state that payment must be recieved within 6 days. I really want to give them bad feedback but Ill probably will get bad feedback so I think Ill leave that.

    NO.4. ask :
Ideas for which sort of winter coat please!
ok now I'm at a loss and wondered if any of you had any ideas! ;)
I need a winter coat and think I may need two as I'm not sure one is going to go with everything I wear.
Basically I don't work so don't need anything uber tailored or smart - much more casual than that!!
My A/W wardrobe this year will be divided between:
skirts - full below the knee but not tiered gypsy, more Reiss/Zara/Jigsaw floaty floral/cord iyswim with gaucho boots, thick leather hip belts and little tops/wraparound thin jumpers/vests and fitted cardies.
Skinny cords and jeans tucked into gaucho boots with above tops or polo necks or shirts and tank tops.
Mini denim skirt with opaque tights, polo necks and uggs.
combats, little t's, fitted cardies and timberlands.
I'm really not sure if I'll find something that goes with everything?
I DID have a full length thick wool brown and cream flecked cardigan with huge fringe collar and just one fastening from Monsoon that I loved, but I've had it for two years and it's REALLY on it's last legs and will have to be consigned to the recycling bin methinks. :( That did actually go with everything and was warm to boot (but not too hot!!) Plus i'd like a change ;)
I know you girls will have some inspiration!!
    Thanks!!

    Answer:
katkinn - were you after something long or short?
I've seen some nice short black wool military style jackets......could work for casual wear or be dressed up a bit.
Topshop have a gorgeous tan leather bomber jacket which I :throb:
I just got this VERY not practical coat, but haven't got a casual coat / jacket yet.
    Answer:
Good morning Kat (and indeed, all!)
My thoughts on winter coats for this a/w are as follows:
I would ideally like two coats (oh the optimism and blatant disregard for my financial situation) - one with a BIG standup collar, possibly in dark dove grey or camel, maybe with a belt (Zara has something that looked quite nice on the hanger) - and one shorter one, possibly a cape style in brown - Marks and Sparks has a nice textured woollen one, as has Gap, for a bargainous 55 squids.
I have a nice one from Marks and Sparks Ltd Collection from last year but unfortunately it was a cardigan type style and it wasn't lined so it looks a bit worse for wear now - may see if the dry cleaners/tailors can do owt with it. I also have a comedy Italian duvet coat - full length - left over from my time on Le Continent, where EVERYONE wears them, with a big furry hood. It's ridiculously warm and good for bonfire night etc, but it does make you look a bit like you're walking around in a sleeping bag. Quilted duvet coats are but one of the Italian's collective fashion disasters - IMHO they're the least stylish nation's on earth but there we are
    ;)
    Answer:
Shining Star that coat is beeyootiful! Where's it from? Has it got those lovely leather covered buttons?

SPOOKY as this was one of the things that I was thinking about :o
I've ALWAYS wanted one especially now, as I do a lot of walking avec le baby, and so thought it would be really practical.
Can't see it going with btk skirts, but then I've got a couple of little blazers and a gorge tweed and leather military jacket from jesire last year (plus I've got my eye on the cream puffed sleeve military jacket from there this season which is divine but the most impractical thing in the world)
SS that coat is GORGE but LADY, I'm going to have a TODDLER in a couple of months  Now you know that she doesn't actually EAT anything, just flings it round the room so when we're out and about, I fear that poor gorgeous coat would soon become not quite so gorgeous!
I think I'll need something a bit warmer than a military jacket (and whilst I do have one, they are a tad ubiquitous for my personal liking :o Hence my reticence (sp) at spending £150 on one from Jesire)
Actually short or long coat - don't mind really!

    NO.5. ask :
    "Uneven Hem Cardigan" Eh?
Is it just me that thinks the uneven hem cardi doesn't look cool or funky, but more like someone's done the buttons up wrong?
I spent ages looking at it to see if that was what was wrong before reading the title on the Topshop website :o
Am I just being completely unfashionable or does it look stupid?
    Answer:

If I saw someone wearing that, I would laugh and think they can't dress themselves properly:lol:
    Answer:
Nope, I agree. Reminds me of when I was little and always managed to do this:o
    Answer:
It would like fine if the hem was diagonal or something but that just looks wrong, why do they do it?:uzzle: :meh:
    Answer:
The cropped uneven hem cardi is much nicer, I tried it on and was suprised that it actually worked.
Or maybe everyone will be laughing at me for not being able to dress myself this A/W
