long cardi

NO.1. Ask :
long cardi
Hi all. I'm looking for a nice long cardigan for the autumn season, but I am obviously trying to avoid the sack of potatoes look which many long cardigans seem to give me! I'm thinking something with an interesting shape rather than just a vast blanket-like expanse of wool that belts in the middle, and maybe in a cream, silver grey, mauve or sage green colour (actually, colour isn't too important, but I think black, chocolate, beige etc might look quite dowdy). Dressy rather than really casual is what I'm after, although it would have to look good with jeans, obviously. Any ideas?
Answer:
Monsoon, Jigsaw, Reiss, Next (boring store but they might have this sort of cardi), MS, Zara, Mango...

    Broken shoes
Basically, I am 25 and for the last three years of my life I haven't bought a single pair of shoes that have lasted for more than eight weeks without breaking - it's usually more like two or three weeks. Usually, the shank of the shoe breaks, causing the heel to become wobbly and slide at an angle. I do sometimes wear high heels, but not all the time. A couple of months ago I bought some very sensible, flat shoes and the last straw came yesterday when one of these shoes literally just tore in half for no reason. I have bought of manner of shoes, expensive or cheap, flat or high-heeled, fashionable or frumpy, and it doesn't make any difference, they always break. It's getting to the point where shoe shops are refusing to refund me, often accusing me of breaking them on purpose or "walking funny". I have had to threaten more than one well-known shoe company with legal action in order to get my money back, and I am completely fed up.
I know that a lot of shoes are "fashion" shoes and not built to last, but they should last for at least one season, surely? And many women buy shoes from places like Shoe Express and they last for years, so why not me?
I am at my wits end - this is causing me a lot of stress, not to mention a lot of money. Could somebody please, please tell me what to do.
    Answer:
    Oh dear.
I get through heels like nobody's business but I've never actually had a shoe BREAK on me. I wear a range of shoes from expensive high street (but not designer) down to free mag flip flops.
If it's always the same part of the shoe that breaks, then could it maybe be something to do with the way you walk? Sorry if that sounds a bit personal but maybe ask family / close friends if they've noticed anything?
The most indestructable shoes I've ever had were Doc Marten boots as a teenager but that's probably not much help if you work in an office...

I've already asked around and nobody's noticed anything. But the thing is, if there *is* something wrong with my walking, what can I actually do about it? In my opinion, if the shoes were truly of good quality then they would be able to support anyone's feet.
    Answer:
My first thought was if you were buying cheap shoes.
You can see a specialist about your gait and if you need it they'll fit you with some orthotics.

Sorry, I have no idea what this means. What sort of specialist? What's a gait? What are orthotics?

    Boring thread alert!
    hi baggers
due to the nature of my job/our company, we have hundreds of fashion mags each month to bin/recycle (i currently have in excess of 100 grazias on my desk!)
however, i'm finding it tough to find someone that will actually come and collect these each month.
can anyone suggest a company or know of an organisation that could help me? we can afford a small fee each month.
we currently leave them to be recycled with our cleaner, who has a big van, but she is terminating our contract with us so now i'm a bit
any ideas welcome! i have googled this but i thought you might have a quick answer ....... :o

    Answer:
We store lots of paper and paper products. Sometimes our customers ask us to get rid of pallets of paper and we use a company called Pearce Recycling in St Albans 01727 861522. They send someone out to have a look and then come and collect the goods for FREE!!!!!!
    Try them.

Right. Had a look on their website (might get done for it by the computer trackers) and there's some nice stuff in their sale (I can't afford their non-sale stuff). Has anyone been in store recently to know whether they've got sale stuff left (esp. in larger cup sizes).
    Thanks!
    Answer:
I was buying some things in Selfridges a couple of weeks ago and they still had the sale stuff out. You mighrt need to ask for your size as they are not all on display. The girl who served me was very friendly though and didn't mind running into the stock room a few times for me.
    Answer:
Cool. I'll try Selfridges. If not, then I'll have to go down to their store as the sale stuff is defo still out there. Can I ask what the fit/sizing is like?
    Answer:
Hi, I was in AP at Selfridges on Saturday and they only have the new stock out now.
Sorry! The new stuff is lovely though....and I also had a very helpful salesgirl!
    Answer:
If they don't have something in Selfridges they'll check the availability in other stores for you. I posed a thread about their sizing, I know others found it a bit odd but I thought it pretty much spot on.
