What to wear with black chords?

NO.1. Ask :
What to wear with black chords?
Hi everyone!
Was scrambling about for a clean pair of jeans this morning and came across a pair of black chords I bought about 12 months ago and have worn once. They are really nicely fitted around ass/legs and then have a nice bootcut at the bottom, fairly thin material and "lines" if you get me. I bought them intending to branch out from the usual denim, but as a student where jeans are acceptable to every event unless it specifies "Black Tie", I really haven't got around to it. My problem was shoes, but I've recently purchased a pair of black flats and a pair of gold, so these should help, now I just have NO idea what top to wear. Colour seems garish, white seems FAR too smart and black makes me look funeral - any ideas what could look casual?
Answer:
Do you have any nice fawn/mocha coloured tops? These colours look lovely with black. Or a stripy pirate-look top with a nice belt slung round?

Answer:
I think camel, tan and cream are great colours to go with black - either in a cami for warmer weather, or go for a slouchy jumper for a/w - maybe one of the stripey 'beatnik' style jumpers which I think someone said they have in Topshop.
Wedges might look nice - in a metallic colour, or the gold flats you mentioned :)
Answer:
Opinion is (very) divided on here about colours and black - personally, I think it can work really well if you've got the colouring for it. I wear red and black, for example, but on someone fairer and blonder than me, it might look too harsh. On the other hand, I personally can't really wear light colours like pale pink with black, but I've seen other people wear it and look fine.
Anyway, colours for tops: neutrals like cream, tan, beige and so on are softer, less dressy versions of white and would look nice with your gold pumps. I also think certain colours, such as deep teals, some greens and particular shades of magenta or pink (especially if lifted with metallic accessories) can work well with black. They can work well together too - for example, I've worn black gauchos with bronze sandals, a gold belt, teal top, hot pink cardi and a big gold bag. Brown is also another option in my opinion - this needs careful accessorising (with brown shoes/belt and maybe some touches of metallics, pinks or turquoises to break things up and lift it), but done well it looks cool to me!
ETA: Oh, and stripes would be fabulous!

Do you mean cords (as in clothing) or chords (as in music)?
I need to know this before I answer.

    Outfit for wedding reception
    Hi all!
Don't normally post here, but in need of some great advice. I've been invited along with my boyfriend to his cousin's wedding reception. I've planned what I'm going to wear apart from the top and this is where I need your help! What I'm thinking is a skirt that I bought in HM last year - it's sort of burgundy, tight and flares out below my knee, with sewn-on flowers that go diagonally across the front. Know the one? I thought that'd go nicely with a pair of slightly metallic cream coloured shoes and a cream coloured 60s here. But what about the top?? I'm thinking more cream would be dull - so what to go for?
    Thank you!
    Answer:
    No one? :(
    Answer:
What colour are the flowers? How about wearing a top in a similar colour to those? Personally, I like bronze, gold, pinks, creamy neutrals, olive/khaki and even certain shades of burnt orange (!) with burgundy.
I like the idea of a cream top (although without having seen the skirt it's hard to say), maybe paired with pale gold shoes and matching here instead? Alternatively, how about tan shoes and a bronzy here?
You could also try posting on the Weddings sticky :)
    g_k
    Answer:
Thanks for that! The flowers are the same colour as the skirt, they're made from the same fabric so are only a little detail.
I can't really change the shoes and bag as I can't afford buying much at the moment :(
Pink is a good idea though, I hadn't thought of that! Bronze could also be rather nice....hmm.

  • GAP Straight cut and Curvy cut jeans in the UK?

    NO.4. ask :
GAP Straight cut and Curvy cut jeans in the UK?
On the American GAP website, they have new jeans cuts, curvy and straight.
    http://www.gap.com/asp/womensDenim05...fitswdid=2388
Can anyone tell me if these are available in the UK branches of GAP?
    Answer:
Haven't seen them yet - but things usually take a few weeks to reach the UK.
    Answer:
Thanks - I went in there yesterday anyway, and they didn't have the new cuts yet. There were a lot of bootcut, western bootcut and skinny jeans.
    Answer:
I'm dying to try the curvy jeans - I might actually find a pair of jeans in Gap that fits
    Answer:
I'm dying to try the curvy jeans
Ditto! And I like the name - 'curvy' sounds sexy rather than calling them 'big ass jeans' which is what I really need

What do you think of New Look?
I went into my local New Look store today and was quite impressed by the array of earrings, necklaces etc that they had, quite nice to add a different look to an outfit. I also bought a shrug there and an orange v neck t-shirt. I wouldn't touch some stuff there with a barge pole as it looks too young for me and some of the quality is a bit dodgy, but generally I give a :great:
    What are other baggers opinions?
    FCX
    Answer:
I think is a bit of a mix, some stuff is really nice and some is....erm..not so nice! I like their Teal shrug/cardi though, its on my wish list.
    Answer:
The shoes are great! Accessories are good and i find with the clothes there's a lot of tat but the odd gem.
Just wish they would stop rising their prices on the clothes:mad:
    Answer:
Yeah i agree with catwoman_in_catsuit, the accessories are really nice there, especially the bags and shoes in the sales!
They are also really good for underwear.
It is really annoying that they are increasing their prices on clothes. I now find that it is quite expernsive to buy things like plain t shirts there, which is annoying and they are not better quality than any where else!

I haven't found any good shoes there for MONTH :(
I used to always be able to rely on their shoes, if I was determined to get a certain colour or style, cheap they'd always have it.
    Been a while though...
Their clothes, well I don't really like it anymore..
I sometimes find the odd good thing or two, but that's it..
Bought 2 kaftans there for £18 each.
Was thinking "Primark would do these for £5"...
    (I couldn't get to Primark)
