Brown and turquoise
Please help!
Having packed in a rush I have rather limited myself to choices of outfits. Do you think that brown and turquoise go ok together.
I am thinking about wearing some brown combats and a turquoise top wih turquoise sparkly flip flops but I am not too sure if brown and turquoise are too strong together.
Thanks
Answer:
They do indeed!
In fact, I have my eye on this kaftan brown top which has lovely turquoise embroidery!
Nice colour matching as not obvious and original... ;)

Thanks Miss Sofia

O/T A-Level results
NO.2. ask :
O/T A-Level results
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who got results today - how did you all do?
I did much better than I expected, and have got an unconditional offer for my 1st choice (I'm deferring a year) :yay:
Hope you all did really well...now bring on the drinking!! :cmcheers: :wine: :toot: :lala: :ldance:
Answer:
well done, are you prepared to disclose?
Both my little brothers get their results today, one is hoping for all A's so he can go to York and the other doesn't care as he has decided uni isn't for him.
Answer:
I haven't got mine yet (did Italian) and the college is a major schlep away, so will wait for the post tomorrow or Saturday!
Well done Bibbitybob!!!
Minky (the oldest person EVER to sit an A level. Probably.)
Answer:
  :D :rawk:
I got an unconditional offer too at uni:yay:
Answer:
Good luck to everyone getting their results today... and well done too... I took 3 A-levels 10 years ago and only passed 1 marginally!
Still, I managed to get into University and done ok. I'd never want to study again though, let alone sit another exam.
Outfit HELP!!
NO.3. ask :
Outfit HELP!!
I've got a short, fairly informal training course tomorrow at my new company's office (haven't started work there yet), after which we will be bussed out somewhere, where there will be what they're calling an Alternative Highland Games :cmeek: and a BBQ (weather permitting). And as you might imagine, I'm having a little difficulty dressing for this!
Friday is dress-down day so I don't need to wear a suit; the dress code is business casual. I've decided to wear something moderately smart and take a pair of jeans and flat shoes in my bag in case the 'Highland Games' turn out to be something more strenuous than tossing capers...
These are the three outfits I've come up with:
Wide-legged black trousers with a very light pinstripe
Cap-sleeved lightweight black jumper with a scoop neck
Camel stackheeled shoes
Stone linen jacket/tan suede jacket, depending on weather
Big black here with tan stitching
Brown trousers
Light pink 3/4 sleeved shirt with a self-stripe
Same shoes
Same jacket
Big tan here
Grey trousers
White cap-sleeved tee shirt
Light pink 3/4 sleeved tailored slightly fifites' style jacket (it's well-cut and smart)
Same shoes
Tan here
Or some other combination of above items. Any help much appreciated :)
Baaahhh. I so do NOT want to go to this :rain:. I've spent most of the week invigilating , marking :banghead: :getout: and dealing with admin :break:, and when I haven't been doing that I've been frantically cleaning :chores1:, trying to sort out menus :chef: and generally organising stuff because I've got guests staying this weekend. And to top it all, my washing machine broke last night  :160205: :banghead: All I want to do tomorrow is curl up with Indiana Jones and a massive bowl of garlic-sozzled seafood and butter-drenched pasta. :boohoo:
OK, rant over!

Answer:
Id go for the 2nd option as not too “dark“for summer!
Or else you could try:
Brown trousers
White fitted crisp shirt
Camel shoes
Tan bag
Tan suede jacket
Nice silver accessories
A bit on the classy side but at least you cannot go wrong! (and better be a bit smarter than not!)
;)
Answer:
Immediate thoughts would be:
Nice pair of trousers that aren't too 'worky'
Patterned little blouse in lovely toning colours, with the collar out over
a nice little deep v jumper to match your trousers.
Matching bangles and string of beads.
So layers would be good if you get warmer and taking the jumper off would make the outfit look a bit more casual if that's what you wanted having gotten there.
Answer:
Hadn't thought about no. 1 being dark, actually, good point - it's been pouring up here so I'd kinda forgotten it was summer!

Absolutely! And anyway, I'm a classy bird, dontcha know! ;) :p
Thanks very much, Miss Sofia, much appreciated. I think I can dredge up a couple of nice silver accessories from somewhere...
I've got so many clothes and hardly any of them are actually suitable for my soon-to-be new career. Muchos shopping called for once I get my first paycheck, me thinks...

Would be perfect, tiny, except I don't actually have anything approximating to those descriptions! Plus I just can't wear blouses under jumpers - it makes my shoulders look huge.
Although :bing: I suppose I've got a lightweight creamy yellow v-necked jumper that could work with those brown trousers....
*Scurries off to invesitgate*

Is it worth doing a shopping trip to the US?
NO.4. ask :
Is it worth doing a shopping trip to the US?
I am thinking of doing a shopping trip to the US so I thought I'd ask your experiences, opinions and advice. Do you think it is worth it?
How big are the savings on bog standard high street type stuff (clothes)? Is there more choice? I am pretty short with much bigger hips than waist and I really have trouble finding trousers so I would almost consider going just to solve this problem.
Are things like perfume any cheaper?
What is the limit on stuff you can bring back? Would I be likely to get stopped for a case of clothes etc?
Thanks girls
Answer:
well cut the tags off and nobody will ever know ;)
the limit is something ridiculous like £140
i'd go, i'm trying to figure out a time to go (not to mention save up some money!). they're better for savings on things like make-up and jeans, and things you can get here anyway like gap, the high street isn't really that great there.
Answer:
Gap type stuff is OK really, I just mean not top-end. I need big bum jeans and work clothes.
I'll need to save like mad to make the trip worthwhile so I need an idea of whether it is worth it before I bother really.
Answer:
well i'm planning on going when apple do their next proper rehaul of the laptop range so when you're buying things like computers then that saving alone would be worth the price of a plane ticket, not to mention that i'll be spending airmiles to fly...
Answer:
I like US shopping, but that's cause I'm short 5'3" and I have a problem finding the right length of pants in the UK and sometimes jeans. :)
We don't have a high street as such though. Wouldn't recommend Gap as the clothes quality is crap except for some shirts. What exactly are you looking to buy? Would it be easier to buy from the US and have it shipped over?
