House of Fraser One Day Spectacular

NO.1. Ask :
House of Fraser One Day Spectacular
did anyone go ?
i was walking past on my way to a meeting and got lured in:o - have had to cancel my meeting because I couldn't go with my purchases!
I bought a bargain pair of pewter strappy heels (plaited straps around toes) because they were the last pair, reduced down to £39 from £99 and then I got 25% off after that.
I also re-stocked my makeup that I lost in my makeup bag a few weeks ago and got the most beeeyoootiful pair of Prada sunglasses 25% off. I would post a pic but I am a gumby.
Tried on some clothes but didn't find anything I really liked except a white Nicole Farhi blazer, but practicality prevailed and I didn't buy it.
i also went a bit mad trying on perfumes with a view to going back and getting one tonight - so now my office smells very, erm, fragrant ! (cue french whorehouse)
Answer:
I would, but I wish there was one near me :(
Answer:
There's one at Monument - you work in the City don't you (City-Girl) ? Its open until 9pm tonight so you could still go after work.
Answer:
Thanks Ellie, but called City girl...amazingly I work in York...a city, but not THE City if you know what I mean! :)

York sucks in the department store stakes doesn't it? They're all so small and the Debenhams is like something out of the dark ages. You'd think a city like York would be much more dynamic :(

    Answer:
Figleaves have some nice ones, just search for "cutaway swimsuits".
    Answer:
I have a *thing* about cutaway swimsuits!
try the brand 'aguaclara' on figleaves. Calvin klein have one on the pages of grazia this week too.
My fave tho has to be my most recent primark purchase, I love it! Uber-flattering :D (it only came in brown)...
    Answer:
Rosa Cha does fun cut away swimsuits -if there were no tan lines involved I'd go for one -they're more fun than bikinis.
This seller is absolutely fantastic (although his models are a little icky), have a few bikinis from him, they come tagged and bagged -has this one in all sizes

  • Karen Millen - what about this brand ?

    NO.4. ask :
Karen Millen - what about this brand ?
There is one Karen Millen shop downtown. Never bought anything from them before. I dont know anything about the brand - exept its from the UK (isnt it? :D)
To expensive if the quality is not good - so is it good and worth the money ??
Need to know - Im in love with a pair of pants :)
Puuhlease tell me what you know about the brand .......
    Answer:
When the shops first opened, Karen Millen used to be amazing. It was expensive but it had usual good quality pieces that you could rarely find on the high street. A real fashionista friend of mine introduced the shop to me and I bought so many things there for a good couple of years. Back then, it was my favourite shop.
Then the owner of the shops seemed to realise what particular items sold best and for the next few years she started to churn out the exact same clothes with slightly different variations season after season so that if you missed an item one year, you could be sure of getting something pretty similar the following year.
Still, the quality was still there, even if the originality was gone - the clothes started to have a very identifiable 'Karen Millen' look and I started going in the shops only when there was a sale.
A few years down the line from that, the quality was sacrificed and in Karen Millen today you have the same familiar Karen Millen styles but in poorer quality garments with a higher price tag.
And I've stopped going in the shops altogether.
    Answer:
I lurk in karen millen once every couple of months or so... some of the stuff is really nice but I only tend to buy stuff on sale there unless it's really amazing and I have to have it.
    Answer:
I always find it a bit frilly and printed and chiffony, not my thing at all. In the same price bracket I would always opt for Reiss.
(probably not that useful if you are not in the UK)
    Answer:
I think Karen Millen is great for good quality tailoring i.e. suits, trousers, fitted dresses etc. As the others have said I usually just buy stuff in the sale from there as it is so expensive. I got a gorgeous suit that is always much complimented on a few months ago for £140, reduced from £280.
I think most of their clothes are cut for tall ladies, which is great for me as I've finally found a suit jacket with the arms long enough!
    misses x

  • Buying Louboutins in Paris?

    NO.5. ask :
    Buying Louboutins in Paris?
It's question time, yet again
Himself is taking me to Paris in November :D and I feel it only right that I make an Important Investment Purchase whilst there. My thoughts for this impending IIP are a pair of Louboutins :throb: So my question to you knowledgable ladies is.....
would it be cheaper to buy Louboutins in Paris or should I just sack that idea and buy them online?
I'm thinking of going for a plain classic round toed pair of heels, possibly in red (as I saw Nicole Ritchie wearing a pair in a picture the other day and they looked stupidly gorgeous)
    :thanks:
    Answer:
Mr Mitchey took me over there especialy to buy some many many months ago and they bascially don't have anything decent in stock (the shop is tiny), you will need to order them and when they're made go back.
To be honest, you're better off doing it in the knightsbridge store.
