Topshop website
Is it just my internet connection or is the TS website completely empty of clothes in the main section (under "whats news") and has been since 17.00 yesterday?!?!?!
Answer:
No, its not just you!
Answer:
It's working for me too, sorry!
Have you tried clearing your browser cache?
Answer:
They've cocked the site up somehow. It works if you're using Internet Explorer, but the images are not showing up in Firefox (and my cache is empty).
Answer:
I can see it now but its the same as it was before - no update!
what makes you look fatter

what makes you look fatter
Hi Girls, looking for opinions here, I've got a real 'thing' about trousers being too tight and looking big so often i end up buying ones that are slighty too big but then i think they make me look bigger. What do you think makes you look 'bigger', trousers that are a bit baggy around the bum and thighs, or trousers that cling to bum and thighs to show shape but not so tight that there are creases at the back of the thighs. I always buy slighty flared trousers to balance out my hips and wear them long with heels. Thanks
Answer:
I know exactly what you mean, FF - I'm a size 12-14, and almost ALWAYS buy size 14 trousers, even if they're slightly too big, as I think there's nothing more unflattering than too-tight trews. I think all mine are either bootcut, flared or wide-leg - and I find flat fronted 'boyish-cut' are better than, heaven forbid, side-fasteners....
I personally think I look slimmer in slightly-too-big 14s than slightly too small 12s but that might not be true for everyone
HTH :)
Answer:
I think that slightly too big is better than slightly too small. You can always cover a little bit of gape at the back of your trousers with your top, whereas love handles are much harder to deal with.
I have a waist that is quite a bit smaller than my hips so I always end up buying trousers that are too big for me to accomodate my huge arse
I've had a few pairs of trousers made for me though, and they fit perfectly, while making me look substantially slimmer, so that's the way forward. Now, if only I could find a really rich man...;)
You could also try buying clothes in a place which offers a free altering service, like Episode, and get the bits that aren't right fixed once you've bought the trousers.
Answer:
Yes i agree. i would never squeeze myself in to a pair of too tight trousers, i would go for the size up. having said that, some trousers are just not flattering at all, pleats, pockets, waistbands, theyre all out to get you!
if i find a flattering pair of trews i will often buy the same but in another colour and i never worry about what size i'm buying, i'm soooo over that gaining/dropping 2 or 3 sizes from shop to shop trauma ;)
Answer:
I'd go for a size too big rather than too small every time. I also buy boot cuts trousers to stop that triangle shape!

...that antik batik dress that i've been banging on about arrived this morning. I quickly tried it on and i let out one big deflated 'Ohhhh' Sorry CX for you having to read this again! ;)
the material is far too sheer, the colour is too 'now', the sequins look cheap - i was anticipating a more embellished and luxurious look, and the fabric feels like a cheap gauzey material! i could get better at topshop! its so annoying how different things can look in magazines. ah well, at least my credit card will be a few quid lighter hey..
but i'm absolutely gutted really, i was planning on marrying that dress :o :(
Big fat MEEEEEW :(
Answer:
I'm sorry sorry. I know from your threads how excited you were about the dress. It's horrible when you are looking forward to something and it turns out to be a disappointment. Nevermind, I'm sure you will find something even more fabulous x
Answer:
What a shame :(
It looked gorgeous in the photos too, I'd have bought it if I had somewhere posh to go.
Keep looking, you'll find something just as nice ;)

Answer:
Oh no! I really feel for you:(
I hate it when you order stuff and it's not what you expected it to be, then to add insult you realise you've still paid for postage :p

 By all means carry on! I can't believe something that looked so beautiful has turned out to be such a disappoint! :uzzle:
How do you care for your patent leather bags/shoes?

How do you care for your patent leather bags/shoes?
I have just received my Ella today from Fiona - see the bag thread at the top. :yay:
It is black patent croc and I was wondering how you all look after your patent leather. I have some punch patent glow - like a light wax spray and have just tried it on and it really brings out the shine.
Is there anything else I should be doing to help keep the bag at its best?
Thanks in advance.:)
Answer:
Hi Narcissa Malfoy
That sounds fine. You could use a damp cloth for dirt and stuff but the spray is better. The spray is good because it keeps the patent leather moisturised and shiny and prevents it from cracking, which would definitely ruin it!
Hope that helps
Answer:
Thanks - the cracking is what I was worrying about.:)
Answer:
There's a cream they sell in Clark's especially for patent leather.

Brilliant - I will call in there and get that then. I use their protector spray on my boots and it is fab!:)

Fortnum and Mason is getting rid of its fashion floor. I used to really enjoy shopping there. Seems odd but they had a really unusual collection, plenty of room to try stuff on, great beachwear and nice shop assistants.
Got a lovely little Missoni cardigan there last year:mad:
It was the last bastion of civilised shopping.
Answer:
Obviously I was alone in mourning its passing - but I do.
Answer:
I'd only be gutted if they got rid of the tea room although I have to admit I've forsaken it for the Wolsely recently!

Answer:
Has it? The beauty floor is still there though? Please say yes!
I'll miss the lingerie section - it was really good! I don't shop there much, but I really enjoy the atmosphere when I do - like stepping back in time!
And the tea room does rock!
Answer:
I think the whole thing is being turned over to food.
Yeah I liked the lingerie and beachwear section best
