cowboy boots 1 pair enough?

NO.1. Ask :
cowboy boots 1 pair enough?
I have a lovely pair of tan cowboy boots, and I would like to get some black or dark brown ones also. Is this overkill tho? as i have a habit of buying 2/3/4 of everything and then never wearing any of it. Its just the tan boots are *very* tan, whereas, black or dark brown will look more subtle and go with more things. opinions? cheers. eve x
Answer:
Are your tan boots brand new? The reason I ask is that boots darken with age and become less bright. If you haven't already, you could try and put some leather treatment wax/spray (whatever they reccommended when you bought them) and see how dark they go. Mine certainly went darker.
Otherwise, I would set yourself a challenge of putting together and wearing outfits for x days (depending on what's realistic for your work schedule etc.,) with your tan boots to see how much you really love cowboy boots. It may be that you haven't really utilised their potential, so this is a good test to do. If you buy an additional pair, maybe buy some really good quality classic ones - cowboy boots come in and out of fashion, so can be a kind of investment, although that's just my opinion.
Answer:
I'm not sure if u are a fan but get down to new Look - I got cowboy boots there for £15, they were reduced from £30, so i snapped up 2 pairs in tan and dark brown - so even if they go out of fashion, i dont mind as they were cheap as chips!
Answer:
I myself wouldn't get more than one pair. If you've got a pair in tan, they pretty much go with anything anyway.
If you have a habit of not wearing things you get in duplicates I think it'd be nicer to maybe spend a little extra on something you don't already have and have had your eye on. Maybe a here or some really nice pieces of jewellery?

    Anyone a size 8?
    Where do you shop?
I can't seem to find clothes to fit well and some shops never have my size, I am a little short so I'm shopping in kids stores:o
Any online stores for tiny women?, I'd love to get some pj's that fit and don't have sheep or dolls on them.
    :)
    Answer:
I'm a size 6/8 but I'm tall, but I have soooo much trouble buying clothes - most shops are size 10 upwards, or just not long enough! I always find Miss Selfridge good for small sizes and Jane Norman. Also, topshop are good, but I'm not sure about the petite bit I'm afraid, I shop in the Tall bit!
Topshop have a website, so do Miss selfridge!
    Good luck

    Answer:
i find knickerbox really good for pyjamas, they go down to a size 8. i buy their ones that have a tag on them saying "made out of wood" (weird i know) and they're really comfy, i've also found they shrink a little in the wash which helps!
id be interested to know where i can find skinny tops that are skinny tops on me though!
    Answer:
I'm a 6 (sometimes) 8/10 usually and shop in Tesco or Next and usually find something that fits, including pjs ;)

  • Ordering from America - Tax costs

    NO.3. ask :
Ordering from America - Tax costs
    Hi,
I've found a lovely jewellery site in America and was interested in ordering some things but don't really understand the tax costs for it coming in to this country. Does anyone know what sort of charge I'm likely to get. Thanks
    Answer:
Hey - I buy jewellery from the US (but via Ebay) and becasue its a small packet they generally AirMail it and mark it as a gift, so Im not taxed. Im not sure about bulkiar packages though. Maybe check with the PO.
    Answer:
I think that if it is less than $100 dollars, and they mark it as a gift you don't have to pay any duties on it, but apart from that, I do not have a clue!
Why don't you email the site - if they ship abroad they should be able to let you know.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. :(
    Answer:
I'm not sure if there is a difference between jewellery and clothes but I ordered clothes from the US to the value of $60 and was charged £10 duties which I thought was quite steep. When I went to pay and pick up the package the guy at the post office told me that you only escape being charged if the value of the items are under £18. That's of course if the package isn't ticked as a 'gift' when you won't need to pay duties at all.
You should definately email the website but from experience, most reputable companies will not be held responsible for duties and will not mark the package as a gift.
    Answer:
if the package gets caught by customs you pay vat if it is either
    a) marked as a gift and over the value of £36
    b) unmarked and over the value of £18
also you will have to pay the costs of the company that delivers it. this is franchised out to various companies to collect the tax due and they have varying charges
bear in mind you may be lucky and it might slip through ok :)

  • (TS) Blacks not good with colour?

    NO.4. ask :
(TS) Blacks not good with colour?
Having read the TS books (I can't be alone for doing this) and watching the older series - they curse the people who wear black trousers with coloured tops and say that the black cheapens the whole look.
Do we think this is true??
I mean, I wear black trousers and fitted coloured shirts all the time, does it really look that bad - maybe it explains the lack of male attention at the moment???
    Opinions required girls!!!!!:p
    Answer:
Hi City Girl, i got their 'what you wear can change your life' for xmas and read the same thing. Since i have been really trying to resist wearing black but im hopeless with teaming colours! :( I always thought that black trousers went with everything now i have no idea what colour bottoms to go with  Do you need lots of random coloured pants to match various coloured tops???
sorry not much help am i?? Think im making things worse so will go back to work......... :o
    Answer:
You sound as confused as me! I don't like the idea of bron trousers, I have one pair of blue pinstriped but other than that they're all black!
I also thought black went with everything. (Well, just about)
    Answer:
    hI all
I think the reason T AND S say this is beacuse they depair of women throwing on black trousers with everything out of a lack of thought of other options.
I have to say...i wasn't sure of their theory....then one night i actually started trying on all different colours with black trousers, and half of it looked terrible.
The only way i can describe it...it's like putting winder on the bottoma nd bright summer on top.
I now wear black trousers only with darker more plummy autumny colours but not with example turquoise or baby blue.
Instead i wear bright tops with denim jeans, beige cord skirt, denim skirt, brown trousers,, boho skirts.
    well that's my 2 pence worth :-)

    Fashion advice urgently needed
    Hi guys,

This is the first time I've posted on here so

I've been lurking for awhile and you all seem like you know what you're talking about when it comes to fashion etc so please HELP!

I am going to a bday night out on Saturday with my husband but I'm really stuck about what to wear.

Its casual dinner, drinks, then probably a club with guys aged 23ish to 30. Only one woman will be there (a new girlfriend of the birthday boy) who is younger than me, slimmer than me, prettier than me and more fashionable than me... :cmdunno:

I really want to look good and would like to treat myself but at the moment I'm just not being inspired with what I see when I go shopping

I'm 26yrs old, size curvey 14/16 depending on shop, G cup, 5ft 9 with long dark brown hair.

I look hellish in skinny legged trs/jeans

I generally shop in Monsoon, little bit of topshop, dorothy perkins etc

I don't want to look frumpy but at the same time don't want to look ott (thinking effortless glam) because I know the boys will be casual (jeans and shirt) but at the same time she will look like she's walked out of a topshop window display !

There's nothing worse than being on a night out and thinking you look awful - I'd love something to boost my diminishing confidence as a result of being rubbish at ttc and my AF turning up this morning again :(

    Help me guys please

    Love,
    Lyndsay
    Answer:
    Hiya Lyndsay
You sound really fed up :rain: , for starters forget about the other girl, who cares what she's wearing/ looks like. Bovvered!
    What about any of these:
Wrap dress, opaque tights, pretty heels, chunky beaded necklace (you could always wear a little vest underneath if you felt boob conscious)
Straight shaped tunic, over leggings, again, nice heels, drawn in slightly with a belt if it needs it.
Fitted skirt, maybe with a slight fishtail (quite a lot of these about at the mo) fitted blouse with a ribbon or belt at the waist. Heels. Statement necklace.
If you are going to a club you could go for something pretty plain, like all black but add a huge necklace/earrings/bangle with a pair of fab shoes and you will look smart and chic. Good luck and have a good night, once you get out you will enjoy it ;)

sod the other girl...if I were you I'd go for something simple clothes wise like a black tunic dress for example and then a really big statement piece of jewellery accessorize have got some GORGEOUS stuff in at the moment...
enjoy it!! :D and welcome to fashion
    Answer:
Thank you for all the ideas - I'm going to go shopping this afternoon

I'm fine just a little fed up with the whole ttc business - stupidly thought it was my month and got my hopes up but never mind there's always next month eh?!

Think a shopping spree will definately make me feel better and I'm getting my hair done tomorrow so that will make me feel a little more human again too hopefully :)
