Friday Night Office to Bar Attire

NO.1. Ask :
Friday Night Office to Bar Attire
I'm lucky enough to be able to wear what I like to work, thank god, would hate the tyranny of suits every day. So I can get away with quite alot, but I expect the more 'eclectic' of my outfits cause a few raised eyebrows! Today: flouncy All Saints ballerina skirt, wrap cardi over beaded cami, Fryes, muchos bangles... so feeling the over-accessorizing vibe!
What I wanted to ask is, for cheeky tips when you have to go straight out from the office. Is it just a fresh perfume and make-up or a complete outfit change in the loos?
So come on girls, in the spirit of Friday...
Answer:
Mostly I just slap on extra eyeliner and a squirt of perfume ;) Occasionally I may be tempted to pin my hair up but it doesnt happen that often
Answer:
Normally if I'm out straight from work it's with other people who also are, so no-one really gets changed.
Depending where I'm going, I might wear a 'dual purpose' top to work and put some jeans on with it to go out.
Answer:
hey friday night crew!
When i'm off for a night out straight from work I take some wipes with me in my bag to take off all my make up and then to re-apply. I cant stand 'freshening' up my make up, it just never seems to work for me and i end up looking too 'piled on'. Having said that, when i know i'm off out i dont wear much in the way of make up on that day, so that i do look a little bit more like i've made the effort, if you know what i mean!
I wear what i like to work too, and today have a dress/jeans/uggs/belt combo on, but have left my bangles and round toe bronze/gold heels to put on later, so i feel more 'friday night-ish'. I work in farringdon (london, sorry if you know that already, not sure where you are) so the bars round here are pretty laid back and dont require much glammin up but thats not really me anyhoo. not sure where we're off to yet; my only pre-requisite is ..... COCKTAILS, an' plenny of 'em :p :yay: ;)
Where are you off to, is it an evening of debauchery planned for you too? :cmcheers:
Answer:
Mine's a post-week cocktail conference with my gang, PV, hence girly but not too going-outy outfit. Really looking forward to it as much to discuss, been a funny old week...

    Annoyed with Shopping Online!
I have been trying to purchase a pair of boots online and I am getting tired of nobody being able to deliver to my work, the reason I have to have it delivered to work is because like most people I work long hours and I am not at home to sign for deliveries.
I had been ordering form La Redoute for 2 years and getting it delivered to my work but my last order they refused:rolleyes: .
Does anybody know of any online delivery shoe shops that deliver to different addresses?
    Answer:
That really sucks! Although I don't know what La Redoute are playing at, because I'm at a term time residence and got stuff delivered here fine!
Depending on what courier they use, if you aren't there to sign for them, you should be able to either call the courier to arrange a suitable time for them to be delivered, or go to the local depot to pick them up. I know that's a hassle because you've paid for shipping, but if you can't find the boots you want anywhere that delivers to a different address it might be the way to go.
I had a look at a few shoe websites and couldn't find any where that delivered to another address. Although maybe someone else who gets shoes online knows of somewhere, I can't buy them because my feet are notoriously hard to find shoes for!!

    Answer:
It is to avoid fraud, look on the bright side, at least if someone steals your card they'll only be able to send stuff to your house!
Although, couldn't you pretend it was a gift and have it sent to your work address?
    Answer:
Every online store I have ever used has allowed me to put a billing address (which matches my credit card address) and a separate delivery address
    Answer:
Since chip and pin a lot of on-line stores are changing their policy on deliveries because fraud has shifted from out of the stores onto the internet but I think if you have ordered before they should at least have a record of past deliveries. A friend of mine had her card details used - the fraudster had her home address and used it to order stuff online and then had all the stuff sent to an address in Belfast (she lived in London at the time). The card had been used up to the hilt before she knew. Don't ask me how the crook knew all the details but it took her ages to sort it all out.

    Oh dear, another bag thread!
    Hello :)
Yesterday I treated myself to this bag by Ollie and Nic:

I justified it on its good size (it fits all my uni folders in). However, the material is tweedy and I'm a bit worried that it will be seen as dated in another season or two. Any opinions?
Secondly, in the same shop they have a gorgeous bright pink, polka dot suede bag by Lollipops of Paris.
I really want it, but I'm struggling to justify the cost of a second bag when I don't have any pink shoes/accessories etc that would match. Could I use the bag as a statement in itself?! What would you team a bright pink bag with?
    Thank you in advance
    x
    Answer:
    Nice bag, that :)
I love pink/ bright bags. Pink works well with blue jeans, against black, with beige/ camel... In fact, it's quite a versatile colour and can transform an outfit. If you've never owned a brightly coloured bag, I'd go for it.
As for shoe matching - I think it would be a bit much to have pink boots/ shoes, too. Just go for a basic background colour, say cream, green or black, plus the shoes you'd normally wear, and see how well the colours work together.
    Answer:
It's a nice bag but very Wintery, which means you'll have to buy the pink one as well and as SC says that will go with anything!
    Answer:
i've got a hot pink bag from ollie nic, havent 'worn' it yet but plan to with just about anything really, i think its better to look a little mismatched rather than, as SC says, team with same colour shoes (i dont reallylike matching bag and shoes personally).
alot of people hate but me i love wearing pink and red together, and pink and orange.
    Answer:
Fantastic, I shall go tomorrow and buy the pink bag! I hadn't really thought about it looking too much with matching accessories, that's a very good point. And I do need a decent summer bag..
    Thank you all very much!

Have there been any exciting new additions this week?
    Answer:
sorry I can't help but I'm going to the Hammersmith one tomorrow - quite a long trek - so would love to know if it's worth it too!
    Answer:
There are some lovely knee length skirts with woven belts. Sadly - the shoe section is still shite!
    Answer:
I'll keep an eye out for those then! I'm going to the Harrow one, luckily the abundance of chavs in the area means that the tracksuit/sport clothes section is depleted and there is always loads of nice stuff left.
I might take a trip to New Look on Oxford st for shoes - New Look shoes are my new 'thing'
    Answer:

I went into my local store yesterday (it's only a very small one) and they seemed to have quite a few new lines in; especially bags (they had lots of summer type shoppers and stuff) and loads of gypsy/flowing/long/big skirts. All with belts and all under £10. The belts are worth that!!
They've also got LOADS of underwear. Unfortunately, they don't appear to do bras in a DD cup (except the old ladies ones). but they had millions of knickers and also pj/nightwear. Some of the 'sexy' nightwear they've got in at the moment is dreadful - I would imagine it's the material to give you a static shock every time you move in bed
I agree that the shoe section was absolutely shite. I really need shoes as well. Anyway, I'm off to visit the olds in Manchester this weekend so I might have to go into town for a quick look in the Primark there.
In short, there's plenty to keep your credit card occupied!! ;)

Weekend with boyfriend - outfit help!
    Hi all,
I'm meeting my boyfriend this weekend (only see each other about once a month) and currently deciding what to wear! Am going out on my lunch and very tempted to buy a few additions.
My thoughts are, I'm going to wear:
    dark indigo jeans
    lime green V neck jumper
    brown boots
    and I'm thinking about getting:
a long vest to layer underneath, and
a scarf of some description OR a chunky belt
I just want something fairly simple but very stylish-looking (don't ask for much, me!). We'll be spending the day shopping/wandering round his city, so needs to be practical (read warm) I'll probably wear either my brown leather jacket or my black Superdry canvas jacket (although thinking that might not be warm enough...
Well, anyway, enough rambling - help me!!
    np
    Answer:
Sounds good! I'd go with a scarf AND a belt - a nice long wooly scarf to keep you warm :D
    Answer:
I know how you feel, seeing my fella this wkd. Live at opposite ends of the country so we're meeting half way and spending a long weekend in York. Trying to decide what to wear too, want to look sexy and stylish but I know its probably gonna be freezing so I need to practical as well.
What you're wearing sounds good, might go for something similar.
