O/T Anyone seen Mamma Mia?
would they recommend it? Thanks
Answer:
Yes, I'm not into musicals really but Mamma Mia is fun and a good little story. It's a feel good show.
Answer:
Heylo!
I saw it with my family for my grandparent's diamond wedding anniversary, and I would recommend it, it's very lighthearted and fun, and if you like musicals, it's definately one you'll enjoy. Even my Dad, against his will, found himself singing along!
Hth, xxx
Answer:
I hated it!, I was looking forward to it so much aswell!
It was just soooo cheesy and predictable, it made me cringe in places. What made it worse was someone sat next to me howling with laughter at very unfunny moments.
Then again, it might jsut be me, but I think there are far better musicals on at the theatre. I just thought that it was such a let down after all the hype it had.

hmm? that's what I'm afraid of, the cheese factor :cmdunno:
Maybe if I went with girls or a mixed group of couples it wouldn't be a problem.
Socks Stilletos
NO.2. ask :
Socks Stilletos
Let me get this right... I was in my local sainsbury's the other day and I saw a girl probably about 16 or so with her mum... imagine it... short bomber jacket (easy now, I've got one of these :D ) big gold earrings, light stonewash jeans far too tight... baby pink pointy stilleto slingbacks... WITH SOCKS??? :faint:
The socks were the same colour as the shoes, they also looked a bit dirty - this can't be right, can it???
Who does this??? AND WHY???
Answer:
Funny you should say that I was moaning about that to Mr Curls the other night - there was a feature in one of the glossy magazines with pictures of people in stiletoes and ankle socks  But pink ones? Gross. Just plain wrong.
Answer:
I have to say that I think this can look fab if done properly, I saw loads of girls in Japan wearing this look and it was really funky on some of them.
I actually wore this look to a party years ago - like 6 years ago! - so didn't think it was that new. I wouldn't do it now though, but looks good on the right person, imo!
Should say, you need nice socks to pull it off! Grubby ones would look:sick:

This clearly isn't right...

Shall I keep these trousers?
NO.3. ask :
Shall I keep these trousers?
Bought a pair of black linen trousers from Next - £22 - wanted something I could dress up or wear casually that were comfortable.
Typical scenario again re sizing - size 12's too small, size 14s about right. Bought the size 14s but plan to lose a bit of weight. Shall I keep these and if and when I do lose weight, get them taken in - or shall I just get a refund and buy trousers when I've lost a few lbs?
Problem is, i need something to wear in the interim, but on the other hand, don't want to chuck money away on something that may be too big when I've lost some weight.
Hmm - what to do? Over to you girlies! :)
Answer:
Personally I'd keep the 14's.
I think it's much more rewarding to feel your clothing getting a little looser than being able to do up a new pair of trousers a little further.
Also it's easier to get linen trousers taken in rather than made bigger. Not that I'm saying you won't lose the weight, :o but it's just a practical way to think about it.
HTH!
Answer:
Take them back and wait until you've lost the weight you want.
As you are well aware, you'll either stand to:
Waste £22 on a pair of trousers you'll never wear if you don't lose the weight,
Or waste £22 on a pair of trousers that turn out too big for you... and will cost even more by the time you have had them taken in and probably never look quite right again.
Linen trousers will be around from now until the end of autumn, I wouldn't worry about them not being available!
Answer:
Hmm, two completely different opinions there! Thing is, I like these particular trousers 'cos they're more 'tailored' than the normal casual linen trousers - they have belt loops and a button fastening and will look great with the belt hubby has bought me for my birthday!! :yay:
Also, I've got a friend who will alter my trousers for free, so I could ask her to take them in (if and when I lose the weight....)!
Am going to try them on again now.
Thanks for your opinions girlies!
Answer:
If you see yourself wearing them in the next few weeks then I'd get them - I reckon it's easier to be positive and motivated about weight loss when you already feel good in yourself, and there's no point slopping about in clothes you don't like almost as though you're "punishing" yourself until you lose the weight.
Another motivation: I've got baggy linen trousers that are half a size too big for me, they sit on my hips now and every time I wear them I get loads of compliments about how slim and lovely I look! :o :yay: So you may still get away with wearing them even when you do lose the weight! :D
Date-wear?
NO.4. ask :
Date-wear?
Going for a drink with a very casually dressed man next week and I'm having a fit over what to wear as I don't want to feel like some dolled-up freak but equally don't want to pour scorn on him by wearing a tracksuit. His style is baggy jeans and sweatshirts and I can't imagine him putting on anything smarter, frankly. My schizophrenic wardrobe veers from my very own baggy jeans and t-shirts to tweed skirts and tits-out tops. I've just ripped a massive hole in my favourite semi-smart pair of jeans, so they're out.
Any ideas? :)
ETA: I don't like getting my arms out, and I'm curvy.
Answer:
Hmm I would definitely not go with a tits out top, unless you WANT him to be looking at your chest all night ;)
I would go for a pretty top with maybe some slouchy casual jeans, with a blazer maybe? God I'm vague today!
Answer:
First off, my experience of men who wear very casual clothes is that they neither notice nor care what girls wear, unless you're wearing something seriously outre.
With that in mind, wear something that makes you feel comfy and slightly sexy. Jeans, a vest and pointy boots with a fitted jacket of some kind is my usual "date" outfit. Not that I go on dates very much......:boohoo: ;)
Answer:
If he's style is baggy jeans then as the others have said you should go for them too. Slouchy jeans with a fitted top of somesort would look nice with the blazer idea - the more fitted the jacket the better and asseccorise with some nice jewellery :)
Answer:
Thanks for the ideas - I don't have a blazer type jacket unfortunately (stupidly big boobs means they hang permanently open and look a bit strange) but think I will go for the whole jeans/smartish top look rather than glam it up. Was feeling a bit strange as my friend was practically trying to persuade me to get a cocktail dress on!
Ebay Sticky
NO.5. ask :
Ebay Sticky
Sorry, this should really go in the Suggestions board, but does anyone else think that the Ebay sticky isn't really necessary anymore as there is a dedicated Auctions board? I've just found the sudden build-up of stickies again really annoying. Also, no-ones posted on this for about 2 weeks.
Answer:
That thread can be moved to the Auctions forum.
